APThe son of former Giants quarterback Phil Simms got a pre-draft visit with the Giants.
Mike Garafolo of the Star-Ledger reports that Matt Simms was invited to a workout for the Giants, along with Rutgers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu. (The visits have also been logged in our workout tracker.)
Realistically (and saying this at the risk of Phil Simms coming after me like he went after Desmond Howard), it’s highly unlikely that the Giants actually see Matt Simms as a player they might draft. At Tennessee last year, Simms completed just 27 of 62 passes, with no touchdowns and three interceptions.
More likely, Simms’ role was to throw passes to Sanu, who is a player the Giants could be considering. Both Simms and Sanu are locals who don’t count against the limit of 30 players a team can bring in for pre-draft visits.
Matt’s big brother Chris Simms recently joined the Patriots’ coaching staff.

I go to Tennessee and if Matt Simms makes a team, I will be beside myself. Terrible player with a terrible attitude. Just watch the tape.
Someone owed Phil a favor.
Phil Simms was smart enough to make babies?????I am shocked. ..lol… Agree with trbowman on the favor owed thing
“Son of Phil.”
That sounded way more epic that it needed to be. Got a good laugh out of it though
Sop to a silver-spooner
he shouldnt get drafted. i would draft Aaron corp over Simms.
Chris Simms already a coach lol. I remember how bad he was in Tampa. Can’t believe he’s on a coaching staff..
Phil Simms was one of the better “game managers” in NFL history. Unfortunately for his children that kind of talent is not something that is inherited through blood lines. The talent just isnt there for his offspring but he got alot further than most of us.
Phil simms is the most boring color(less) commentator in the history of the NFL.
@ beer
I would agree with you if it weren’t for Troy (I am in the bag for the cowboys all the time) Aikman. He is the most un-objective, completely biased, most annoying commentator on TV besides Joe Buck who happens to sit right next to him.
Old NFL QB Archie Manning’s two sons, Eli and Peyton, haven’t done too badly, so it makes sense for the Giants to take a peek at Phil’s son.
How high is Matt Simms on people’s draft boards?
@tony
