The problem with Edelman is that Welker can probably play defense as good as Edelman can play offense.

And without Edelman’s constant injuries. I like him, but he probably has more “nicks” than any part timer in football.

Most guys would have been clamoring for a new deal after the year he had is 07-08. I think this is a testament to the Patriots organization.

You had me up until that last sentence. This guy has been one of the best receivers in the league for the past 5 years and was top 2 or 3 last year. Why wouldn’t you make a commitment and pay him? He clearly didn’t gripe about being underpaid for the last few years, so why not pay him now?

Minute risk, Wes will be back on a 2-3 year contract.

His best earning potential may be to play this one year deal, and hope to get tagged again next year.

With Edelman there the pats can and are playing hardball w welker. Don’t be surprised if they get offered a high draft pick for welker and they actually move him as long as the other team gives him a long term deal.

I would hate To see this(see username) but theyve brought in too many receivers. Guys like stallworth and Gonzales could have went somewhere else with a better chance to make the team.

Id put the percentage at 10 percent because welker seems like a guy who won’t hold out into season but if they think he will holdout don’t be surprised if they try to grab a couple 2′s or 2nd and 3rd rounder for him.
