Demaryius Thomas: No hard feelings for Tim Tebow

Broncos 49ers Football AP

Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas caused a stir when he said he wasn’t sad to see Tim Tebow leave Denver. Now Thomas has attempted to revise and extend those remarks.

It wasn’t no hard feelings or nothing against Tim,” Thomas said on KKFN in Denver, via SportsRadioInterviews.com. “He’s a great player. If we had him, I’d love to have him. If we had him still, there wouldn’t be no problem me playing with him. It’s just that we’ve got another quarterback now. I really don’t talk about much about Tim no more, since he’s not here with us.”

Thomas isn’t apologizing for his complaints that Tebow didn’t get him the ball often enough, that Tebow missed throws or that Tebow misread defenses. And he isn’t hiding the fact that he’s excited about playing with Peyton Manning. What Thomas is saying, however, is that he likes Tebow and wishes him well. And that’s all he’s saying.

“I’m not even gonna talk about it,” Thomas said. “He’s with the New York Jets, I’m proud for him. I’ve got a new quarterback, and me now, it’s all about the Denver Broncos.”

Thomas has learned a valuable lesson in all this, however: Don’t mess with Tebowmania.

“I was just answering the questions, you know?” Thomas said. “But ever since the interview, it’s just been — I’ve been getting badmouthed left and right.”

And with that, Thomas says he’s done talking about Tebow.

And they said that Dez Bryant was the dumb receiver in that draft class…

What school did he attend??? Just want to make sure to cross that school off my list for future reference!!

people ask questions, get an honest answer and then can’t deal with it. truth is, tebow stunk as a quarteback and if the defense had played better early in the season he may not have played at all. the defense kept denver in those games. all of those wins except the pitt win was against prevent defenses’. for the life of me i still haven’t figured out why teams would go into a prevent defense when tebow can’t read anything but a prevent defense

Sooooo basically it WAS hard feelings against TIM???

It’s okay DT, we forgive you. Now, go crack the hell out of Peyton’s NECK!!!

  6. 49erstim says: Apr 13, 2012 2:23 PM

You’ve been getting bad-mouthed because you tried to blame Tebow for the teams woes. Orton got ran outta town not because of Tebowmania, but because his performance with that sub-par Broncos team. Then in comes unorthodox Tebow and his wind-up pitch like throws and teams don’t know how to defend it. Your defense stepped up a couple times as well. The problem with you, Sir, is that winning wasn’t enough for you. You wanted individual stats. As I stated yesterday, I’d work on my hands, route running and defense reading because that new orthodox QB you have won’t put up with those drops and you sure better not zig when you should’ve zagged too often or “you ain’t gonna be catching no balls” then either.

So does that mean there was in fact hard feeling being presented? Damn those double negatives.

The fact of the matter is that Tebow did miss throws and does not read defenses effectively, even Tebow would admit to that. Why is DT being badmouthed about stating a fact? It’s not as if he said people were alive when dinosaurs existed.

We’re sincerely sorry that we put you in this position. Our dominance isn’t meant to be a slap in the face. It was originally meant to guide the lesser peoples of this game. Our shadow is so great, as is your jealousy. We swim in glory, you swim in tears.

Really? These players don’t give a rats a$$ about Tebone… Make no mistake about it. Payton Manning will make all the Broncos Receivers richer! They will catch more passes, more yards, and TD’s then they would ever catch with Tebone…

Ironic that your dumb ass would post this crap here considering the player talked about in the article was the guy that burned your sorry piss & coal colored team into the off season.

Curious that a Steelers fan would choose this thread to talk smack on. Update: Steelers got owned by what most say is a QB that can’t throw & a WR that can’t enunciate. Seriously-somebody should send Thomas a “Hooked on Phonics” care package, or at least make him see that he’s just embarrassing himself when he tries to throw his teammates under the bus. Illustrative of our failed educational system. How did Thomas make it out of elementary school? So eloquent with his double & triple negatives. I don’t envision P. Manning having alot of patience for this man.

  24. tennesseeoilers says: Apr 13, 2012 3:10 PM

Want a good laugh? Look up DT’s stats for 2010 and 2011. It wasn’t until Tebow became the starter that Thomas began putting up anything resembling Pro Bowl numbers. Want another laugh? Wait ’til he tanks even under Peyton.

  26. tennesseeoilers says: Apr 13, 2012 3:15 PM

    Dear Ahmiller21,

Please don’t refer to the Steelers as “Titan-like.” Even though we all know you were being sarcastic, there’s need dragging the reputable team in Nashville into the Steelers’ muck.

So his grammar sucks. As a 9 year old boy he came home from school to watch his mother and grandmother being arrested and sent to prison for dealing crack. They are still in prison. He made it through his teenage years and, oh btw, also made the nfl. Kid did ok. I’m sure Niles Crane would object to his spelling but all things considered, the kid catches touchdowns for a living. Cut him a break.

  28. sirmixalotalotalot says: Apr 13, 2012 3:18 PM

This guy was 100% correct. Tebow averaged about 10 completions per game. There are guys that average 7+ catches a game and with Tebow around there was never a chance he would get to elite level numbers for a WR. It’s not an insult to say a player that doesn’t complete a lot of passes, doesn’t complete a lot of passes and that hurts his numbers.

I’m not all that familiar with Thomas, although reading the quotes, the way he expresses himself reminds me of Brandon Meriweather. (Maybe he went to the U??)

Bigger point that he was trying to make is a solid one. Put yourself in the head of a wide receiver. If you had a chance to play with Tim Tebow or Peyton Manning, it’s a no brainer. And since most quotes in the media fail to arrive with context, this really strikes me as a “move along… nothing to see here” scenario.

Oh I get it. They were just kidding when tebow threw that 80 yarder and dt stiff armed their sorry ass cb and ran untouched to win the game in ot. Perhaps they don’t have any room on the shelf for another trophy? Or maybe they just got beat by a qb who completes less than 50% of his Passes. Stay classy steelers.

  37. theytukrjobs says: Apr 13, 2012 4:05 PM

This is how retarded our society is today. Makes me want to puke. You can’t offend anyone. You can’t judge anyone. Everyone is wonderful and super and nothing is anything.

Tebow was completing like 10 or 15 passes a game. Their WR’s had the worst stats in the leagues, and stats basically equal dollars in this league. One of his teammates points out how he’s excited to go from the worst statistical passer in the last 20 years to the best statistical passer in the last 20 years.

And now he has to apologize? Seriously is this the society that we are crafting for ourselves?

So after football the only thing he can contribute to society is being a crack dealer, because our education system let him slide cause he could catch a football. Ya we should all give this multi million dollar athlete a break right. If it was your kid you would be ok with him being ignorant. No because football is a small part of life and you cant live off that money forever. Look at Tiki Barber, T.O., and Warren Sapp all in debt right now just to name a few recent cases.

  40. denverscott says: Apr 13, 2012 4:28 PM

Most of you are idiots. #1 Most NFL players didn’t go to college to learn how to pronounce words. #2 Thomas was right. He dinnit git no balls. When he did, he caught them and ran. #3 Ocho Stinko caught alot of balls, can’t say the word “ask” without using the letter “x”, and PAID to get fake gold teef for special ocasions yet is/was a great receiver. Feed DT some balls and watch what the kid can do. Just don’t listen when he talks. That’s what his ho’s are fo.

  41. denverscott says: Apr 13, 2012 4:32 PM

Plus,Shannon Sharpe was raised his grandma, bought her her first house with running water, heat and air and listen to him talk… oh boy he can talk…but he is HOF all the day long. Still speaks ghetto tongue but so what. Do you want Butters the pimp saying “Do you know what I am saying?”, or do you want a playah on your team?. Someone devoted to and studying the game of football? Do you hear what I am saying?

  44. jucam1 says: Apr 13, 2012 4:39 PM

I must have missed when Tebow was a good QB….. DT at least has talent, and even if he doesn’t speak the way you want hime to, he’s taken his talents and accomplished much more than most people do…. Tim Tebow is a novelty that appeals to religious folks…. That’s it. I am sure he’s a nice guy, who believes in something that isn’t true. That’s neither here nor there…. He’s a way below average QB and DT was just stating that he would prefer to play for a QB that has actually won something, not one who can barely throw and is absurdly over hyped

  45. boltjolt says: Apr 13, 2012 4:46 PM

C-mon guys. All the guy said was they didnt throw enough with Tebow and when they did, Tebow wasnt very good. Its all true so whats the big deal? This Tebowmania is out of control. The guy isnt a very good QB and thats all there is to it.

From the quotes Thomas has given and his “way with words”, I’m really curious on what Thomas’ wonderlic score was. I’m sure he doesn’t know how to spell route, but I’m hoping he learns how to run one under Manning. We’ll see this year whether it was Tebow’s lack of talent or Thomas’ with Manning now at the helm.

  48. lks311 says: Apr 13, 2012 5:04 PM

The good news? The incidence of athletes who have such little command of the english language, like this, have become more the exception than the norm (and that’s why everyone is cracking on him so hard).

The bad news? If you are a Georgia Tech Grad, I’d lay low for awhile…and I would certainly take that alum frame off my rear license plate.

  49. bass1717 says: Apr 13, 2012 5:07 PM

For all you Tebow-lovers…..if he was “so good and such a winner”, he would have gotten traded for more than a 4th & 6th round pick!!!!!……there is a reason he got traded for garbage picks, he stinks!!!…..oh, and could he be any more phony???……all he cares about is getting his face on tv and in the spotlight, and that’s a fact

  50. bonniebengal says: Apr 13, 2012 5:15 PM

What is with these divas who think it’s all about them and how many times they get the ball? There’s a whole team there, and Tebow led that team to a playoff win. I suppose if DT sets some receiving records this year and his team doesn’t make the playoffs, he’ll think he had a better season than last year.

  51. gromgrimfist says: Apr 13, 2012 5:23 PM

    @denverscott
I’m not saying I could not live off of that money but lets be realistic for a minute how many professional athletes live the same life style a middle class american lives. No they go out buy 5 cars and million dollar homes ( multiple normally) blow 500 dollars on a meal and don’t care. A 23 year old irresponsible athlete that has never had to manage money cause since he was being scouted in high school has had everything given to him, can not be compared to me or you who actually know the meaning of a dollar and have lived pay check to pay check before

Add in the Tebowing and the mental capacity of a 12 yr. old I’m surprised more of the players on the Broncos offence haven’t spoke up. Oh, I forgot, your not allowed to speak ill of the great Tebow.
