Irsay promises “seasons of monsters” in Indy

As we’ve mentioned a time or two, the Twitter account established and maintained by Colts owner Jim Irsay represents appointment viewing.

Even when it’s unclear whether he’s quoting music lyrics or sending a cryptic message or sending a cryptic message by quoting music lyrics, it provides an often unfiltered glimpse into the mind of an NFL owner.

And so, at a time when we’re still dealing with the aftermath of a bounty system in New Orleans and grappling with a sensitivity to safety that could eliminate kickoffs and pondering how much the game of the future will resemble the game with which so many fell in love, it’s refreshing to see some old-school bluster from one of the 32 mean who run the sport.

“The ‘War Room’ is buzzing here,” Irsays says. "[P]lans are emerging to unleash seasons of MONSTERS.”

What’s refreshing to the fans could be alarming to the league office. But that’s a matter for another day, perhaps when the NFL is announcing fines or suspensions imposed on those “MONSTERS” for, you know, behaving that way after they are “unleashed” by Irsay.

Then again, maybe those are just the words of a Springsteen song.
