Jaguars defensive tackle Terrance Knighton expects to make a full recovery after he suffered an eye injury when he was hit in the face with a vodka bottle during a bar fight. But that recovery is going to take a while.
Knighton will miss at least three months following eye surgery, Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey said today. The Jaguars had been hoping Knighton would continue to slim down and work hard in the offseason program, but instead he’s not involved in the offseason workouts and is simply resting so that his eye can fully recover.
So the best-case scenario is that Knighton is cleared to return to physical activity just before the start of training camp, at which point, given his history, there’s a good chance he’ll be overweight and out of shape.
The worst-case scenario is that Knighton’s eye injury turns out to be worse than he and the team are expecting, and the Jaguars will have a big hole in their defensive line.
