Future Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III gets a good draw for his NFL debut, facing a New Orleans Saints defense in Week One that will likely be depleted, with multiple starters facing potential suspensions.
The Saints have released their full schedule, which shows them hosting the Redskins in Week One. That’s the game when interim head coach Joe Vitt and General Manager Mickey Loomis will start serving their suspensions for the bounty scandal, and it is also the game when Saints players including linebacker Jonathan Vilma, defensive end Will Smith and safety Roman Harper may be suspended as well.
One interesting note on the Saints’ schedule is that their bye is Week Six. That means both Vitt and Loomis will have an extra week on their suspensions. Vitt is eligible to return after the Saints’ sixth game (Week Seven), and Loomis is eligible to return after the Saints’ eighth game (Week Nine).
The Saints travel to Carolina in Week Two, host the Chiefs in Week Three, visit the Packers in Week Four and host the Chargers in Week Five for Sunday Night Football on NBC before that bye week.
