I was one of the 150 in that room and I can say that this guy is an absolute ace…top-shelf, classy, intellegent and surprisingly soft-spoken (relatively)….

NBC completely distorted this report about being about to hit the quarterback…his comment was more to do with him having a job to due (getting to the quarterback/breaking up the play/etc), and having to put the brakes on before turning his opponent into a pancake…there was nothing malicious about his words in the sense that he wants to break legs and doesn’t respect the QBs in the league…

NBC Sports should be stripped of their journalistic duties for reporting it like he’s against player safety as indicated in the first paragraph of this article…shame on you!! (The above article also referenced the Boston Herald as it’s source…I read that Boston Herald and they very clearly noted that his joking demeanor throughout the event and about calling QBs wimpy”)…POOR JOURNALISM!

He spent about 45 minutes talking and taking questions, and then another 45 minutes signing autographs…He even had the courtesy to stay a few minutes after that to take a few pics with fans like me! (Thanks Vince 325)

You are right Psycho,I was at that game at the Loserdome in Indy 2006,Refs tried to give the game to Pay-us back Manning & let him in their huddle repeatedly,took away Troy’s interception,giving them 8 points and taking away 9 from us,final score shouldve been 30-10,not 21-18 but NFL needed their drama and ratings,prompting Joey Porter to say after the game,”We know everyone loves Peyton,but c’mon you can’t take the game away from us? EXACTLY I CAN’T WAIT til Peyton gets his just like the other 31 QB’S in the league do,Hell Ben gets hit late nearly every play and no flag? Disgusting!

2 SBs lost while not cheating by 3 & 4 points

Cheating is worth ~ 6-7 points.

where was the rule back when my steelers took palmer out 3 years earlier before he was my boy now in oakland ? i begged for palmer and flacco and brady and manning to be destroyed for years before palmer got it in the playoffs.funny nothing happenned mainly cuz no one gives an f about the bengals,but hypocritical that no rules changed till brady got it then manning got crippled.now flacco cant get it without a bunch of flags and fines but still u get my point,brady is getting the preference and all other qbs get squat.ironic that a patriot thinks qb’s are wimps lol maybe play some defense you slug and he wont have to throw 50 times a game and score 40 points to win lol

Folks, let me clue you in: It’s called a Competitive Advantage;
I would rather have the QB of my team solicit calls from the ref’s in favor of his team than not.

You know what’s even more disgusting, Raven fans who think the only way their team can lose is from bad calls by the refs or the other team getting lucky. There was ONE roughing the passer call against EACH team in the 2009 game(randall conveniently forgot that). Maybe it’s time raven fans, after all the team’s failures, realized their team just can’t close the deal. If Brady can influence the refs, which I doubt, good for him. Maybe Flacco should call for some flags, he doesn’t seem able to win championships on ability.

Wilfork is right, the NFL protects the QBs more than anything. The biggest problem that I have with that is that going about it that way devalues ALL other positions one the team ESPECIALLY defensive player. And hey, here’s a thought. Maybe Wilfork knows his QB is a whimp. But if I have to protect my whimpy QB, or protect myself, I think I’ll protect myself.

This isn’t a post to simply pile on to the likes of Brady, Rodgers and Brees etc. being wimps as I think they are great QB’s, would love to have any of them on “my team”, but I think what Wilfork is saying (and he knows it applies to HIS QB as well) is that certain QB’s do get preferential treatment from officials. If Brady, Rodgers or Brees can get up from a hit by a lineman and simply “look at the official” and it results in a flag being thrown, then other QB’s like A.Smith, McCoy, Cutler, Ponder, Cassell, etc. etc. should be afforded the same treatment. I’m certainly not a Steelers fan but I will say that I think the QB who takes the most abuse without ever getting the benefit from officials is Ben Rothlesberger. I don’t know if it’s becuz the officials don’t like him or they think becuz of his size that he can better absorb the hits, but he doesn’t get the “wimpy calls” that guys like Rodgers and Brady etc. get. I don’t include P. Manning in this becuz in his career thus far he has had a terrific O line and has such a quick release that he seldom gets hit but too often it seems like if Brady or Rodgers even get breathed on they get the flag. I know the homers will bash me but they simply refuse to acknowledge what other fans AND the players see.

For the crying pats fans who say Brady isn’t a wimp, go back at watch the 09 game between the pats and Ravens.

Brady cried after every hit and motioned for a flag each time, no matter how legit or slight, and got most of the calls in his favor. BS, it changed the outcome of the game. But hey I guess Brady is really tough and manly to be able to wave for flags right?

Guy disgusts me. Unitas is probably spinning in his grave over how these QB’s today are pampered.

where do you people get your information? how is brady a wimpy qb? have you seen the hits he takes and gets back up from? and all this nonsense about brady drawing flags every time he gets touched is just ridiculous…if you actually look at the amount of flags drawn for hits on qbs brady is at the very bottom and yea maybe he does look at the ref from time to time to complain but i think you might do the same thing if you had your knee bent the wrong way and the ligaments in your knee torn…not that looking at the ref gets him any flags anyway but every qb in the league complains about hits they take…michael vick does all the time and i don’t see anyone calling him a wimpq

Let’s face it, the game had to change to protect the players’ lives after football. It is as simple as that. Look ay the concussion lawsuits. A few thick skulled players like Vince have not realized that yet!
