James Harrison doesn’t like the new Steelers throwbacks

-1

The reaction to the new Steelers throwback jersey has been, for the most part, negative.

Joining the chorus of boos is Steelers linebacker James Harrison.

“There’s a reason these jerseys were from 1932,” Harrison said on his Twitter and Facebook accounts.  “[I]t’s 2012 now though, so send them back!!!

Actually, the jerseys are from 1934.  But the point is the same.  He doesn’t like them.

Feel free to express your own feelings in our highly significant polling process on the issue.

There was a pretty important “lol” at the end of that quote that you left out. Makes it sound a bit different.

  2. raiderapologist says: Apr 18, 2012 10:59 PM

They will be useful as a secondary uniform in the new SFL.

  3. tweeter75 says: Apr 18, 2012 11:04 PM

James Harrison is well known for his thoughful, articulate, and intelligent observations.

  4. dachozen1 says: Apr 18, 2012 11:05 PM

Me neither! They should try black pants to match helmet with the white jersey. It’s not a throwback look but sure would look nice.

  5. lenke08 says: Apr 18, 2012 11:08 PM

they remind me of the bumble bee guy off of the simpsons

  6. 69firebird says: Apr 18, 2012 11:12 PM

They suck just like the team that will be wearing them. 6-10 this year.

  7. hrdcorbengalsfan says: Apr 18, 2012 11:14 PM

    Prison stripes.

  8. kevpft says: Apr 18, 2012 11:14 PM

At this point, I think it’s fair to ask: does James Harrison like anything? Does he have the physical capacity to like? Does he like what he had for breakfast, or nice sunny days, or a reading a nice book with a cup of cocoa? Something? Anything?

  9. bangbangbilly says: Apr 18, 2012 11:15 PM

Instead of sending the steelers to London they figure will bring ugly rugby jerseys to Pitt

  10. bigblue1212 says: Apr 18, 2012 11:17 PM

    Bumble Bee! Lol!

  11. bigredjbird says: Apr 18, 2012 11:19 PM

Ha ha! They are gonna look like a bunch of jackasses!

  12. packerman1968 says: Apr 18, 2012 11:20 PM

They look like Roller Derby Jerseys.

  13. oquintero99 says: Apr 18, 2012 11:21 PM

    The bumble-steelers.

  14. steeltuff says: Apr 18, 2012 11:25 PM

I don’t blame James . . . these unis are atrocious . . . their mascot, Steely McBeam, probably wouldn’t condone them, let along wear one either.

  15. pgui88 says: Apr 18, 2012 11:25 PM

    Ugly. Disturbingly ugly.

  16. grannyvi4 says: Apr 18, 2012 11:27 PM

Butt ugly. AND they look like prison uniforms from the 1930s. Perfectly named, though…they deserve to be thrown back.

  17. aresarrow says: Apr 18, 2012 11:28 PM

These will be, without a doubt, the worst uniforms of all time once they step on the field. Only the baseball uniforms with the shorts give it a run.

  18. sportsfuhnatic says: Apr 18, 2012 11:28 PM

These are by far the worst throwbacks I have ever seen…I wish I could erase the memory of seeing them.

  19. rezburna says: Apr 18, 2012 11:29 PM

    Horrendous.

  20. csszrr says: Apr 18, 2012 11:33 PM

Guess who is going to get run out of West Virginia?

  21. infectorman says: Apr 18, 2012 11:33 PM

looks like the “Stealers” will arrive at the stadium from a bus that came directly from County Jail to play in a Convict vs Free-Man football match.

    God awful…

  22. ordekim says: Apr 18, 2012 11:33 PM

Looks about as ugly as the Pit fans I see around. Squares behind the numbers for the squares that will be wearing them.

  23. lampshadedog says: Apr 18, 2012 11:33 PM

Probably the only time ever I’ll agree with Harrison but obviously he’s right. They couldn’t have gotten fuglier if they tried.

  24. babyhorsemorgan says: Apr 18, 2012 11:34 PM

They are so bad that even the mannequins refuse to show their faces when they are wearing them.

  25. jeffa43 says: Apr 18, 2012 11:39 PM

I cant remember the last time I did not watch a Steeler game….

I may listen to the game the day they wear these….

  26. rajbais says: Apr 18, 2012 11:41 PM

    Jail bird unis!!!!!

  27. denttlm says: Apr 19, 2012 12:02 AM

They look like something prisoner should wear on a chain gang.

    He likes guns..

  29. kodakinvegas says: Apr 19, 2012 12:56 AM

Not bad for the ex cons that are wearing them :)

  30. crybradycry says: Apr 19, 2012 1:05 AM

These uniforms are about as ugly as his explanation for why he hit Colt McCoy in the head

  31. cardmagnet says: Apr 19, 2012 1:08 AM

The Steelers will be entering the next FIFA tournament, and didn’t want to have to spend money for extra jerseys, so they’re just wearing these for both games of “football”.

  32. botchedextrapoint says: Apr 19, 2012 1:15 AM

I know I’m on my own here but I love the look. Mind you I am from Australia and I’m used to Rugby jerseys.

  33. possiblecabbage says: Apr 19, 2012 1:16 AM

They’re awful, but they’ll only be worn for one game and then they’ll be put away only to be brought up among the bad alternate uniforms in NFL history.

I mean, the Broncos, Bears, and Eagles have had some horrible throwbacks in their time.

  34. curtainclosed says: Apr 19, 2012 1:25 AM

    looks like a rugby jersey.

  35. curtainclosed says: Apr 19, 2012 1:31 AM

It’ll look better after it gets some Cleveland Browns blood all over it.

  36. ciscor65 says: Apr 19, 2012 1:32 AM

These uniforms truly are throwbacks! LOL!!!

  37. norvturnersneck says: Apr 19, 2012 1:38 AM

It looks like Waldo ran into a bee

  38. johnnythek1 says: Apr 19, 2012 2:14 AM

Oh, come on… the throwbacks aren’t so bad… why they are missing a golden opportunity here, the team could stage it’s own version of “Oh Steelers, Where Art Thou”. Coach Tomlin could play Delmar, James Harrison would be a natural as the perpetually enraged Pete Hogwallop and Big Ben would be perfect as Ulysses Everett McGill. I smell an Oscar. Well, I smell something….

  39. kevpft says: Apr 19, 2012 2:19 AM

    @b1unt3d – you’re right, I forgot about that! :)

  40. christopher525 says: Apr 19, 2012 3:37 AM

Horrible. Not every team was as good as the Bears back in the day at designing uniforms.

  41. bryans49ers says: Apr 19, 2012 4:23 AM

    WTF!

  42. exhibits5 says: Apr 19, 2012 4:28 AM

it really don’t matter if he likes. the new throw back uniforms. he is a punk anyway.

  43. dumplingsrbrown says: Apr 19, 2012 4:44 AM

These uniforms are effin great!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot wait to see the Steelers wear them! (Of course I’m not actually a Steelers fan!)

In reality though, they look more like throwup jerseys than throwback jerseys!

  44. ak18346 says: Apr 19, 2012 5:43 AM

you are PAID to play football not to share your views on the uniform!

  45. bearsoxass says: Apr 19, 2012 6:04 AM

    WTF

  46. thegonz13 says: Apr 19, 2012 6:06 AM

Still looks like a prison jersey…

  47. colts01 says: Apr 19, 2012 6:14 AM

A cross between a bumble-bee and a school bus. maybe they will distract the other team?

  48. cmbusdriver says: Apr 19, 2012 6:25 AM

Hines is thinking thank god I retired. These uniforms are worse than anything he had to wear on Dancing with the Stars !!!!!

  49. sudz28 says: Apr 19, 2012 6:30 AM

    “O Brother Where Art Thou?”

James Harrison, for once, is speaking for NFL fans as a whole methinks.

  50. audient says: Apr 19, 2012 6:41 AM

    Browns fan here.

    Those uniforms are butt ugly.

    They’re perfect.

  51. jennstergersburnedretinas says: Apr 19, 2012 6:44 AM

It looks like the punchline to a joke.

What do you get when you cross a yellowjacket with the Shawshank Redemption?

  52. joemammy says: Apr 19, 2012 6:54 AM

Cleveland Browns fans approve of these uniforms.

  53. ravenator says: Apr 19, 2012 6:55 AM

Bahahah, James Harrison finally says something intelligent.

  54. godofwine330 says: Apr 19, 2012 10:17 AM

    They look like prison uniforms.

No, they look like the shirts that Black Bart had on when Ralphie shot him with his Red Ryder BB Gun.

    Hilariously horrible.

  55. Steeler's Will says: Apr 19, 2012 10:26 AM

Awful. If I had to wear that, I’ll pay Harrison’s fine/lost wages for teeing off on my brain with his helmet at full speed.

  56. JSpicoli says: Apr 19, 2012 11:55 AM

I think they confused “Throwback” with “Throw up”.

  57. flybirdhaters27 says: Apr 19, 2012 2:21 PM

These uni’s are so bad O’ Brother Where Art Thou and Life wouldn’t even use them. Completely terrrible, with an extra r.

    ——————————————
Sorry, the Browns uniforms just look plain and old. These Steelers unis look just plain old stupid. There is a difference.

These are even more hideous than those yellow and brown Bronco throwbacks. What an embarrassment it’ll be for these guys to have to wear those. Ouch.

  59. eggersthejerk says: Apr 19, 2012 6:57 PM

I’ve heard many people state that these jerseys are “no good”.

    I disagree… they are “good”.

“GOOD” FOR A LAUGH, THAT IS!

    lol!
