Getty ImagesAfter 11 seasons as a starting offensive tackle for the Patriots, Matt Light sounds like he knows whether he wants to keep going or call it a career. But he doesn’t sound like he wants to let anyone else in on his decision.
Mike Rodak of ESPNBoston.com reports that Light talked to reporters about a charity event he’s participating in on Wednesday, but clammed up when asked if he has a timetable for determining his future.
“No, not really. Although my wife has a pretty good idea on what is going to happen with me,” Light said. “She keeps me pretty busy.”
Several reports have said Light is leaning toward retirement, but he is not ready to say anything publicly yet.
“You know, at this point, I’m just kind of taking it day by day,” Light said. “We’ll see how it goes. Sooner than later.”

Just holding out informing the public to keep the Pats draft a mystery. He is done!
Will Matt Light be shooting Wrangler and Sears commercials while he’s contemplating a decision?
.
When the injuries mount, and they always do on the O-line, Light will unretire. Junior Seau did that for years.
What is Matt Light going to learn at camp or in meetings ? Outside of Brady, he’s probably the smartest Patriot in the room.
.
He’s not retiring. If he wanted to retire wouldn’t
he already have ?
This is either about:
A. Wanting more money to come back for 1 more
year or
2. Wanting to skip as much off season workouts/
training camp that he possibly can.
He’s a heck of a player. Pay him more for one
more year. The more O Linemen the better.
And PLEASE draft for DEFENSE this year !
Just one more year, please, Matt Light. One more year and then you can do anything you want.
Solder, Vollmer, and Cannon are all capable of becoming starters but with Light potentially leaving or staying they are still going to need more depth anyways, especially if injuries set in. I wouldn’t be surprised if they pick another in the draft with one of their first four picks.
Take an O lineman with one of the first 4 picks (per axltcu above.) It’s time to let Mr. Turkey Shoot wander out to pasture… and if they have injuries and need him to step in during the season, I’m sure he has a Seau / Brown / Branch bat-phone installed at the ranch for the call from BB.
Does it really matter?
Pats are never gonna win another SB!
