so he thinks that making $16 mil/year is what his value is? He must be crazy. top 5 qb gets that kind of money and he can only cover one side of the field whereas a qb can spread all over the middle and other side.
While I think mevis is still a top end cb he did slip a bit in the last year. not much, but just enough to get beat by welker for 100 yards in a game including a 70 yarder. A shutdown cb never gets punked like that.
anyone remember Moss beating revis for TD badly just after he signed this big contract? it caused revis to pull his hammy and not be so effective.

Not a very good analyst of football are you buddy? Every player gets beaten at some point or another even shut down corners. The consensus amongst just about everyone in the league, talent evaluators, etc is Revis is arguably the top corner in the league and without a doubt in the top 3. People really act funny when someone does something they don’t like. They start acting petty and try to down grade that person’s accomplishments.

Secondly,

In a passing league such as today’s NFL cornerback and defensive ends are premium positions. They will collect premium dollars.

When Jones refuse he was cut. Anyone remember that? Or how about the dozens of players on a number of teams that are given the choice of renegotiating their contract to a lower amount or getting cut.

Or how about the dozens of back loaded contracts teams sign with players never intending to pay out the final years. Save your indignation. It just makes you guys look ignorant. The other 3 major pro sports leagues never face this situation because contracts are guaranteed in those leagues. Until NFL contracts are guaranteed they will be deemed renegotiatable by the party with the most leverage.

It’s players like you that mess up this league and their teams.

They need to pay Revis and make him the highest paid corner in the game, b/c he is the best in the game.

I respect what he did 2 years ago – he basically told the Jets, “I won’t ask for 4 years, $70mm but how about we front-load the contract and if I’m still playing at this level come 2012, we’ll redo the contract” That’s the gist of what he signed, and now that he has held up and is playing at a superior level, they should compensate him with a similar contract.

We always b and moan about players not trying hard after getting paid (ie Marcedes Lewis/CJnoK).

This is what I want if I’m a GM, basically pay a guy based on his performance and keep giving him small deals so he continues to play at that level.

It’s not like he misrepresented what his intentions were when he signed. You guys think he didn’t tell the Jets the same thing? You guys don’t think the Jets understood what they were giving him?
