Why not focus on DBs?

Ratliff is getting worn down playing NT in this scheme. Usually 3-4 NT’s are gigantic and able to take up 2 blockers. Ratliff is small, so he relies on his quickness at the spot. He is good, but he tends to get worn down in the 2nd half of the last couple of seasons b/c of the beating his undersized body takes in the middle. Many Dallas fans have been clamoring for a real 3-4 NT, so we can kick Ratliff to DE where he is a better fit. He can provide some help to Ware in the pass rush dept and it should also prolong his career a bit.

So in essence, taking a true NT could improve 2 spots instead of just 1. Our DE’s currently are rather pedestrian. If Poe can just anchor the middle our LB’s should be able to make more plays….Initially Poe would even be of help if he can just hold his ground against 2 defenders….If he gets his technique down with his athletic gifts he should be able to provide a push up the middle…..

Now am I completely on board with him..NO, b/c he’s still a big risk….but if he pans out the defense gets a lot better. He has more upside than any other player in that reguard b/c he gives us a pretty good player at DE as well.

For someone with freakish stats (combine record 46 bench press reps, unreal 4.89-40 for 346 lb. man, 30 inch vertical) playing against third rate opponents in a third rate Conference USA, not to mention starting for 3 years, you would think he would’ve dominated against these scrubs who have zero chance for the NFL.

If you look at his highlight reel, there’s like only 3 good highlights. Are you kidding me??? After thousands of plays during 3 straight years of starting, that’s the best he can show???!!!!!

There’s a reason why he never dominated. He will be a bust for sure.

Eagles current DTs aren’t game changers but they’re solid. They have a better rotation than many teams there and with their ends and a beefed up LB crew they won’t let up the runs and tight end yardage they have been. Add Barron and you don’t need Samuels. I was never a Josolio Hanson phinatic but you can’t ignore the fact that he has good numbers in the slot. Put him in the weight room and see what he can do then.

If nothing else, the birds just need to get us fans (and I’m a season ticket holder) back into them… especially the way the Phils are playin’
