Irsay pretty much confirms that Luck is the pick

When Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Thursday that the Colts have informed quarterback Andrew Luck that he’ll be the first pick in the draft, I immediately checked (and re-checked) the Twitter page of Colts owner Jim Irsay for anything that would suggest otherwise, including but not limited to an allegation that Schefter is a “false rumor monger.”

Irsay didn’t dispute it, and now he has essentially confirmed it.

In his latest Twitter contest, Irsay offers $200 and a football signed by Andrew Luck.

For inclusion in the “Abby’s hatpick!” drawing, the Twitter user must name by 5:00 p.m. ET the college that had the most players drafted in the first two rounds in 2011.

The correct answer is North Carolina and Alabama, with four each.

  1. The Steeler Nation is superior to every team in many ways. You fumble in the dark for meaning to our success. We laugh at you and your attempts to match us.

  2. Another day.
Another “story” confirming what we’ve known for five months.

    Tomorrow:
“Irsay again further refuses to dispute report that the Colts have already decided to draft Andrew Luck # 1 overall.”

    Sunday:
“Luck to Colts a ‘sure thing’: Colts office give further indication the Luck is ‘definitely’ a Colt”

    Monday:
“Multiple reports that Luck has confirmed that the Colts have told him he’s the pick.”

    Tuesday:
“Luck a ‘done deal’: Colts refuse to dispute multiple reports that Luck has confirmed that he is ‘absolutely definitely’ the pick.

    Wednesday:
“Reports all across the nation confirm that everyone in the Colts office has contacted Luck to tell him that he is ‘absolutely positively definitely no doubt for sure’ the # 1 pick”

    Thursday:
“In a stunning act of pointless redundancy Commissioner Goodell announces at podium that Luck is the #1 pick”.

  3. Remember when Kyle Orton used to be called Neckbeard?

What the hell are we going to call Luck? “Facebeard”? Seems kinda dumb, but also kinda appropriate.

  4. Schefter is a “false rumor monger.”

Did any click on that false rumor monger link. It’s a story on Al Davis’ opinion about Schefter from 2006. Why is that even in this post?

  5. Can there be a bigger douche than Irsay?

Oh yeah! His useless dead father!!!

I once was a colt fan. Now a Redskin fan. I love you Bert Jones and Joe Washington!!!

  6. C’mon he pretty much confirmed it by the Colts tanking all year. I have not witnessed a team outright tank a season for the #1 overall pick like the Colts did, besides the 2005 Texans.

If the Denver Donkies were on the Colts schedule last year, I would be one upset Raider fan.

  7. Of course Luck is the pick. Irsay fired everyone who expressed an interest in RGIII, thus, disagreeing with him.

Even the great Polians got canned because of their belief in RGIII.

    Enough already.

  8. I’ll be 100% certain when they ink him to a contract… what are they waiting for? The Colts are the only team that can sign their pick before the draft, so stop tweeting and get to work.

“There’s nothing I’d like to see more than Andrew Luck pulling an Elway on the Colts.”

And why is that? Is it just because you’re a petty little retard with nothing better to do than act like a d-bag?

    ==================================

It’s there because the issue of Adam Schefter being called a false rumor monger stems from an impromtu interview he tried to run on Al Davis at John Madden’s Hall of Fame induction where Davis accused Schefter of rummaging through innuendos and “whispers” to make a story out of. The funny thing is that Al Davis pretty much clowned him HELLA hard and dissed him on national TV.

Still, it was 6 yrs ago. Furthermore, Florio calling anyone a “false rumor monger” is the ultimate in irony.

Or maybe they just had an awful QB. If they were tanking, why did they finally bench Painter and put in Orvloski (sp?) for the last 6 games, in which they won 2 of those? If your tanking don’t you keep playing Painter?

  13. @gaco

If the Colts were trying to win how come they didn’t go into the season with a viable QB knowing they wouldn’t have Peyton.? They went into the year with Kerry Collins who had a record of 2-11 the past two seasons. They’ve been following Luck for 3 years, as a Polian is on Stanford’s staff and telling them that he’s the real deal.

This was the ultimate Front Office tank job. They went into the year with the worst QBs they could find. Kerry Collins couldn’t win a game to save his life his last 2 years at Tennessee. The Colts front office knew that he would carry that magic with him to the Colts. Backed by Painter who is the mother of all scrub QBs…..#TankJob
