Saints extend Jabari Greer

Greer

On a day that could have resulted in the imposition of suspensions on Saints players who were involved in the bounty scandal, the day ended instead with one member of the team’s defense getting a contract extension.

Cornerback Jabari Greer has signed a three-year extension. His agent, Mark Bloom, told Adam Schefter of ESPN about the deal.

“This shows how well Jabari has played, and the Saints have recognized and rewarded him for it,” Bloom said.

Greer, 30, joined the Saints in 2009 after five seasons with the Bills. In 2011, he started all 16 regular-season games for the first time in his career. Greer had one year remaining on his contract; the total deal is worth $23 million.

In March, starting cornerback Tracy Porter left via free agency, signing with the Broncos.

Greer responded to the bounty allegations last month with poetry. In light of today’s developments, we suggest this: “Roses are red, violets are blue. I just got paid.”
