Just for the sake of accuracy, I wanted to point out that California has over 37 million residents and Texas has 25 million. Still, I believe they could get a stadium deal done in Austin or San Antonio because they know how to do things in that state and those are great cities.

the state or city wouldn’t have to put any money into an open air stadium. and the stadiums in pittsburgh and seattle are not dumps. they aren’t “just getting it done on the cheap”. zygi can pay for it, take in all revenue, and charge for others to use it. is it ironic that the city and state want it to be a billion dollar stadium, and that now it can’t get passed?

I do respect this opinion. I don’t agree with it because this isn’t fantasy land. It would be wonderful if owners paid for the stadium themselves. Some owners have. That’s great. Since this is obviously the problem and Minnesota will not help to build it. There is only one solution. The team must be moved. That’s not very complicated now is it. I’m done.

What is the real reason that the NFL wants to see public money used to buld this stadium? Is it to keep the Vikings in MN? No. The real reason is to avoid a precedent being set about who pays for new stadiums. If MN won’t pay for the Vikings then the likelihood is that no state will pay for their team in the future.

Sorry to go political, but I think it is a factor in the dilly-dally going on in “The Cities”…

There’s a substantial Tea Party movement within Minnesota(just like here in Wisconsin).

All taxes are bad to these folks(unless it’s taxes for something they favor).

Regardless of the long-term economic benefit those taxes might bring(and the subsequent long-term revenues coming to the state), it’s easier to sell “No New Taxes” than it is, “Lets give money to a billionaire”.

if they just do something just to get it done, we’re going to end up with a crappy stadium built on the cheap to replace the old crappy stadium that was built on the cheap. Could just call it Metrodump 2.0. If they’re going to do it, do it right so that it lasts and is profitable throughout its life.

Because the state or city won’t put money up for an open air stadium, and the Metrodump can’t stay open with no tennants. They won’t be able to draw the NCAA tournament or a Super Bowl or anything like that without a roof.

As one who bleeds purple this bill will not get passed. None of these politicians are going to tie themselves to that money in an election year,,,,,,,,,ain’t going to happen.

This state does not look forward we look at the bottom line today because the people making choices don’t care about tomorrow they care about getting the votes today.

If this doesn’t get done in a special session during the season,,,,,,,,,,,,,adios amigos. Sad days will strike again and if you thought losing the North Stars hurt the people and the city just wait until NFL multi billion dollar league leaves the city.

Don’t even bother. This state legislature has made it clear, they won’t support a NFL franchise. Just move them. This is coming from a Vikes fan. I’m sick of them and can’t wait to express myself when I vote. I see incmbent and I vote for every single other one.

The CITY Charter of Minneapolis MANDATES/REQUIRES/DEMANDS/INSISTS that the voters of that town decide if they want to make the contribution (150 million!) that the various politicians have decided they should make.

I know that the Vikings, the NFL, and PFT Planet have no objection to democracy in action right?

This issue is completely what’s wrong with America. There are rules in place for such things. But because following the rules would likely result in an influential billionaire and a MINORITY of vocal constituents not getting what they want, plans are being put in place to change, manipulate, and ignore the rules. Minority rules when they have all the money…..
