Notre Dame’s Michael Floyd is all over the map in draft projections, with some people seeing him as the best receiver in the draft -- better than Oklahoma State’s Justin Blackmon -- and others having reservations. Count Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald as one who thinks very highly of Floyd.

Peter King of SI.com talked to Fitzgerald over the weekend and reports that Fitzgerald badly wants the Cardinals to draft Floyd with the 13th overall pick.

Fitzgerald isn’t the type to complain about his teammates, but it’s obvious that every opposing defense makes stopping Fitzgerald the first, second and third priority in the game plan, and any receiver in that situation would like a receiver on the Cardinals who can take some of the coverage off him. So it’s no surprise that Fitzgerald would like to have Floyd, his fellow Minnesotan, as a teammate.

What we’ll have to wait until Thursday night to see is whether Floyd is still available at No. 13, and whether the people who make the decisions in Arizona have the same viewpoint on Floyd as Fitzgerald.
