QB is the most often selected position with the #1 pick. Raiders needed a qb, and the only time the raiders ever had a #1 pick.

In all reality in the history of the draft, the 2007 QB class was probably the worse ever…..They all sucked, and with respect to cardinals fans the jury is still out on Kolb, but there was a reason why the card’s went after peyton. I mean fact was nobody in the huddle could even understand what J-Bust was saying with his louisana draw.

The best think is you will no longer have guys celebrating on purple drank that the won the 68 million dollar lotto. Rookies now have to earn their worth.

Florio didn’t spell it out clearly, but he did point out that something was wrong with portraying Jake Long as the first overall pick in 2007. Skipping Russell for legal reasons or shame is one thing, but marking Long’s picture with the wrong year is just stupid.

Disagree, you could have had Jeff Garcia throwing to Megatron. Garcia would have been a stop gap,but the position could have been filled later.

Saints fan and LSU watcher here. Once again,when it was announced Russell was the overall #1 pick,a collective WTF!! ran through Tiger Nation. We knew Russell would never be a great Qb. He parlayed a Sugar Bowl game with 2 future NFL Wr’s in Dwayne Bowe and Brandon Lafell against a over matched Notre Dame team.

Add in the fact that he’s black and it’s a done deal b/c the media refuses to criticize, and refuses to allow accurate criticism of a black QB by fans/radio listeners, etc.

NFL teams should always go with a QB who started 3+ years like Donovan McNabb, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, etc. The one year wonder-type QBs rarely, if ever work out in the long run (see Smith, Akili and Leaf, Ryan).
