Oh, ok, I just won’t shop in Minneapolis. Even though that’s where I live. That’s ignorant. And the gambling issue has very little chance of making it through the legislative process. Zygi should build his own stadium, with his own parking lots. My opinion.
.....
Dude....its a sales tax that already is in use!!! It was used to fund the Convention Center, that is now paid off from what I know......funds will now be used for the stadium!! NO NEW TAXES!!! Do you think they would ever do away with that existing tax anyway.....NOW WAY!!! Why not just funnel the money towards a new Vikes stadium rather than some other BS downtown. i don't get your hate!?!?!?

Ok the Vikings guy you keep using for the picture is not only not a registered voter in Minnesota, he’ CANADIAN! If it matters. It’s my money that is being spent, not his.
_________

And the money he brings into the state every year is about 5000 times more than what you would be asked to pay for this stadium. And guess what? If you don’t want to pay a cent for it, YOU DON’T HAVE TO!!!
————–
So as a tax paying citizen of Minnesota, how do I NOT have to pay for this stadium?
_________

Why don't you look at what the deal is about before you make comments about it? The state's portion comes out of new gambling revenue. If you don't use electronic pulltabs or tip boards, you don't pay. The city's portion comes from an existing sales tax. If you don't want to pay it, don't buy anything in Minneapolis. It's people like you who don't even know how this is being funded that cause this to be such a problem getting passed.

Purple Guy is correct. Beer, food, football and fun is forever shunned and looked down upon by the elites of Minnesota. As evidenced by them running their NFL team out of town.

Enjoy your day in your cubicle at Target Corp, your bland meal tonight, and your exciting evening of talking with your fellow Minnesotans about how elite you are compared to the other 49 states and about art, sculpture, and other things you only pretend to know about. Just be sure that when others are around, you smile and nod and be very agreeable. You can’t trash anyone to their face. That’s just not the Minnesota way.
.......
So what your telling all of us "Sotans" ruvelligwebuike is that if we cross the St. Croix into Sconi to live, all of us would be in for more and better beer, more fun, better food(not bland.....I didn't know you all spiced up your food so much more in Sconi than us over here??) and we would meet people we banter with on the internet face to face and settle our differences mono e mono......Sconi style?? Nah...... I guess I like my sculpture and art too much......I'll go look at it after I get out of my turkey blind tomorrow morning. Get a life and quit hating so much dude.

Sadly, WI is better than MN in football right now (although ironically the Gophers football team holds more big 10 and national championships than the Badgers), and Packer fans may be more loyal as a whole in comparison (if that's how a cheeser defines their worth). But lets get serious, every major study shows MN superior to WI in education, employment, average income, health/fitness and business. The reason there are so many cheesers at Vikings games is that half the state of WI lives here to find work -- how many Minnesotans do you see moving to WI? Admitedly, WI is above us in alcohol consumption, obesity, violent crime, poverty and is the only state in the country where bars outnumber grocery stores.

I heard Marcel the Shell was on one of tickets, but didn't quite get the votes. Probably because he was too confrontation and not artsy enough for a Minnesotan.

Maybe I am mistaken, but have they addressed one of the biggest road blocks in the Metrodome sight? The fact that Minneapolis city charter says a public vote must take place to use public money for a stadium."

-----------------------------

Thank you for pointing that out. The plan being "passed" in the legislature calls for $150 million from the City. THE CITY.

The City Charter DEMANDS a public referendum on an expenditure of this size. No way to get around it. Every poll says that vote goes AGAINST the deal.

Theres LOTS more needed before folks start celebrating a broke state fronting hundreds of millions to a billionaire.

There are lies. There are damn lies. And then there are statistics.

WI is a better football state on both the college and pro level. That extends down even to UW-Whitewater who in 2011 won its third consecutive NCAA Division III national championship (Go Warhawjks!).

MN is colder than WI.

MN gave the world Bob Dylan.

WI gave the world Les Paul.

WI was the home of Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontaine.

Maybe I am mistaken, but have they addressed one of the biggest road blocks in the Metrodome sight? The fact that Minneapolis city charter says a public vote must take place to use public money for a stadium.

They will have to move it to an alternative site or more than likely face law suits if they go ahead without the vote.

I always wondered why a business that makes billions a year in profits doesnt just use NFL funds to build a stadium. They could build a new stadium in a different city each year. That way every city would get a new or renovated stadium every 32 years which is about the normal life of a stadium anyways.

But of course they wont because they always sucker the tax payers into paying for their profits. Could you imagine a company like Microsoft asking tax payers to build them a new factory because Google just built a new one in another city?

If the St. Louis Cardinals, a mid-market MLB team, can fund afford a $400 million stadium project almost entirely through loans...then the Vikings, can surely afford to do the same.

Face it, there's a large majority that doesn't want to fund the stadium with public funds. Might as well use loans and make it yours!

Where do u get your imformation from?
How many blackouts have the jaguars had the past 2 years?

Also….check this link out
The Vikings only drew 500 people more then the jags avg
Please check your facts……how about teams like Tampa and Miami??

http://espn.go.com/nfl/attendance
-----------------------------------------

Dude, i would be frustrated too, but you need to face facts..... The Jags drew less than 75% capacity for the 2009 season. It will be a while before people forget that. Drawing attention to a link that shows the Vikings at 98% and the Jags at 90% Doesn't help your case much, either....

You are, essentially, correct. As a truck driver who has operated extensively in both states, I will attest to the fact that there is little difference, both in landscape and people, between the two states. However, that just encourages the back-and-forth, especially amongst football fans. (MLB and NBA fans don't get this heated....)

While I know it was not your intention, i still chuckled at the thought that more bars and better football make Wisconsin a batter state. Part of me agreed with that sentiment..... But the other part remembered I am no longer a frat boy.

Better football, yes I will give you that. More bars maybe, but they are filled with Redwing boots and Carhartt jackets, and that is in Milwaukee. I guess if the Wisconsin "good life" is making 50,000 a year working 3rd shift riding atop a d8 Cat at some papermill in Park Falls, I will take my life here in Wisconsin's doormat, the other "flyover" state....Unless you are flying Delta, which has a major hub at MSP, making it not really a flyover state afterall.
