Deion Sanders cited for assault

After a Monday altercation with his estranged wife, Pilar, it appeared that Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders would be facing no criminal charges.

It appeared wrong.

The Associated Press reports that Deion Sanders has been charged with misdemeanor simple assault.  Pilar Sanders also faces a misdemeanor assault charge.  She was arrested; Deion wasn’t.

Deion posted messages about the incident on Twitter.  He also posted a photo of his children filling out police reports.  (The photo was later deleted.)

During his 2010 Hall of Fame induction speech, Sanders specifically thanked his wife, Pilar, for putting up with him “because I’m not easy to deal with.”  (She was seen on camera saying in response with a smile, “You’re not.”)

Speaking of cameras, Deion Sanders is scheduled to be part of NFL Network’s draft coverage.  It’s unknown whether the assault charge changes that.

  1. Scraping…GOOD ONE!! As a Ravens fan…I had to watch this bum suck up a roster spot for too long. In all that time I did not see him tackle anyone.

  2. Deion, your being charged with assault! What are you going to do?
“I’m going to Walt Disn… ummm, wait a minute. Get me my phone, I’ve got to get this on twitter”

  3. Deion is such a piece of garbage and hypocrite.
Great football player… but that’s where anything good ends. That’s why there is an “i” smack in the middle of his name. Cause it’s ALL about himself.

If you don’t believe me, just ask him.

Everybody can just tap out because it just does not get any better then this…..

    Going viral……… NOW

  6. Deion was the biggest contributor to Crabtree holding out by blowing diva garbage in his ear and setting the kid back. Deion was his pre-draft advisor for a while. Some advisor…

Keep your domestic issues domestic idiot and shield your kids from it instead of putting them right in the middle of it. Embarrassed for him…

  7. Throw punkass Deion, idiot Warran Sapp and stupid ass Michael Irvin off the NFL Network and it would become a much improved network. When I see these clown on the NFL Network i turn the channel. They make me want to vomit.

  8. Ditto…please not another season of Deion. NFLN is not big enough for his ego…his segments are laughable and his interviews are worse – Me, Me, Me and my accomplishments and opinion. Oh ? His compulsive narcissism made a very private family incident into poor me, me and pray for my chiren…and ME. “I’m gonna press charges” how christian of him (son fill this report out about your momma)

  9. Guy makes me want to puke everytime I see him or hear him. His ex, on the other hand, is very easy on the eyes. Can’t believe she married that douche.

  10. Gotta love a Dad who would get the kids involved giving a statement to the Police against Mom.

    Father of the Year

  11. @wadinmypants
You are absolutely right about all 3 of those idiots.

Goes back to the old saying…..
You can take the man out of the ghetto, but you can’t take the ghetto out of the man. All 3 are low rent, jive talking, has-beens. I hope to hell that Sapp is not invited back to Inside the NFL. He just doesn’t fit with the rest of the crew.
Neon Dione has never been anything but an egotistical waste of time.

  12. Deion is truly one biggest religious frauds in world today. I know just enough to see he’s the antithesis of of the premise. Most people are though. He’s just more outlandish.

  13. If true should be fired on the spot. Make an example out of him that these stupid acts are not ok.

  14. It’s doubtful, but maybe one day the NFL netwrk, Espn will rethink hiring turds like Deion, Sapp, Hoge,Irvin, I think if they took a poll, 95% of the viewing audience would agree that these guys turn people off with their loudmouth, arrogant comments, then when they screw up it discredits the network. Leave the announcing to announcers not Dum bass former players.

    That is just too funny!

What is not funny is his crazy soon to be ex-wife..

  16. At nineroutsider: you are an idiot. First off as an advisor to Crabtree, deion Sanders did nothing wrong, if anything he screwed dez Bryant over by getting him suspended at ok state. And second if two parents are arguing, they have a right to do that in their home. Because in order to protect thier kids from it they would have to go somewhere else to argue, and then it would be you who complains that they were caught arguing In a wendys parking lot. And you’d probably make a stupid comment like keep your personal marital problems to yourself, or keep it in your house. Dumbass.

  17. I don’t like Deon either. The man preaches about our Lord while walking around acting like it’s all about the bling. But I am not going to gloat over a family having personal problems. These two were married for a while and have a nice family. A decent person should not be enjoying this story.

  18. The NFL survives in spite of itself and their marketing gimmicks.

They put on the ridiculous halftime show because they think fans like it, not because they are trying to reach casual fans.

They stick these incredibly stupid and troubled personalities on their NFL network because they think fans like it, which in my experience is wrong.

Talk about a league more out of touch with the fan base that supports them. Just shows how good a product they have.

  19. I suspect his tendency to twitter so much is predicated on the fact that no one can understand what the F he’s saying when he talks. Between him and Michael Irvin sometimes an entire 60 minute show goes by and I haven’t been able to decipher a single word.

  20. Hopefully the NFLN will look into to these charges an fire him from his TV Gig.NFLN will watchable,oh yeah take Crackhead Irvin With you…

Combined with the user name, the GOAT!

  22. The NFL is the undisputed king when it comes to domestic assaults. Both former and current players, stay classy fellas.

  23. I’ve been in a situation with an aggressive female. Its a lose-lose situation for the male. He can’t defend himself. He has to maintain uber control because if he even tries to stop her he’s seen as the Ike Turner.

Nothing to be done when she losses her head but turn around and walk away. Anything else is losing.

  24. Please keep it up Prime, maybe just maybe the NFL Network will release you of your duties, and if at all possible please drag Michael Irvin into the mess!! Bring back guys like Rod Woodson and other people that can actually speak!

    duece5 says:

How ironic that Irvin, so far, has kept his nose clean (pun intended) lately, while his two homies can’t get out of the way of themselves.

Everytime I try to listen to the senseless ramblings of Sapp, Sanders, and Irvin, my ears bleed.
I can never replace the dead brain cells lost in those brief 5 minutes that feel like hours, turn the channel to ESPN, feel the same way, and hope it’s Eisen or Mariucci or Warner, GUYS YOU CAN ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND!!!!

If your ex-NFLer english decoder system is broken, you’re screwed.

  26. The NFL Network. Filled with wife beaters, bankrupt has beens, bad dressers, obnoxious know it alls and pot heads.

  27. Reminds me of another team mate of his named Andre Rison. I wonder when this his wife will burn down his house. Anything for publicity, PRIMETIME!

  28. I was surprised to see so many people that agree with me concerning Deion and Irvin…You can also add Jamie Dukes to the list of self-appointed know-it-alls.

  29. This was probably a minor altercation that would have been quickly swept under the rug, but the first thing the idiot does is go straight to twitter with it and bring as much attention to it as possible. Smart move Prime Time.

  30. Domestic altercations: Always is about the heat of emotions at the time, then the emotions subside and people don’t feel the same about pressing charges later, as the angry emotions aren’t the same days later. I.E. deleting a picture and posted messages after clearer heads are prevailing. Things like this between parents or step parents like she was in front of children scar kids for life. Also, when one parent in the public eye through their profession do a real dis-service to their own career when they push their private family difficulties and struggles out into the world through the media or social media. Since he is famous, he should have hired a public relations director and only communicate through their agency when not at work on the set on TV. It would certainly be a lot smarter than what he did here.

More like the dumbest. He didn’t have to hit, he intercepted the ball or knocked it away. I hate all you macho types.

  32. Another NFL network guy. When are they going to stop hiring loser Cowboy shills with an agenda.

  33. yeah, my guess is that his woman found out about that fine-ass mexican chic with the huge soccerball tits that he’s been banging for several years whenever he travels to Houston on “business”. My sister-in-law used to work with her, I’ve met her, and she loves to show off the texts that he sends her. BTW… I don’t blame him a bit. She’s way finer that that she-baboon he’s married to. I just wish he’d drop the preachy holier-than thou BS…

  34. i’d like to see nfl network clean house. keep rich and mooch and kurt warner. the rest can go. jamie dukes included.
the guy is a bum for posting pics like that of his kids. great way to protect them

  35. Damn right he hit her- Deion was just getting his PIMP on! The police report stated that the b_tch didn’t have his money! And we all know pimps don’t hit men….. Deion is one sorry B.

  36. What the heck is going on this offseason?
It’s like watching a tennis game go back & forth between the Saints & NFLN in a contest to see who can look worse:
Everytime you see a new Saints scandal break (bounties, bounty penalties, Bill Parcels possible return to coaching, Drew Brees’ & Joe Vitt’s unabashed bounty denials, GM Mickey Loomis’ espionage/illegal wiretapping), it is immediately followed up with someone on NFLN looking or sounding too stupid to live (Sanders assault charge, Sapp ‘snitching’ on alleged ‘snitch’ Shockey & being invited by NFLN to discuss it on air, NFLN “Top 10 Heisman Winners” featuring Tim Tebow & Cam Newton., etc).
This offseason, NFLN has mimicked ESPN in becoming just another 4 letter word by pandering to specific fanbases, stars, or divisions, & doing &/or allowing seemingly anything & everything to manufacture drama where it does not naturally exist.
I used to brag to my friends & coworkers because I had NFLN, & most of them didn’t.
I’m not bragging so much lately…

  37. Just because he is charged does not mean he is guilty. His wife probably made a police statement saying she was a victim trying to cover her own behind. The police have to pursue any claims made. Having the kids fill out a report is the right thing to do. Whether you like it or not they are part of this mess.
