After a Monday altercation with his estranged wife, Pilar, it appeared that Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders would be facing no criminal charges.

It appeared wrong.

The Associated Press reports that Deion Sanders has been charged with misdemeanor simple assault. Pilar Sanders also faces a misdemeanor assault charge. She was arrested; Deion wasn’t.

Deion posted messages about the incident on Twitter. He also posted a photo of his children filling out police reports. (The photo was later deleted.)

During his 2010 Hall of Fame induction speech, Sanders specifically thanked his wife, Pilar, for putting up with him “because I’m not easy to deal with.” (She was seen on camera saying in response with a smile, “You’re not.”)

Speaking of cameras, Deion Sanders is scheduled to be part of NFL Network’s draft coverage. It’s unknown whether the assault charge changes that.
