Willing to bet I know Bradshaw’s history with the team better than you do. Bradshaw has said a lot of things about that arm in 1983. First, he wanted to leave the team for a movie career. Then he wanted to come back. Then the team “forced” him to come back before he was ready and ended his career. Finally, he admitted that he lied to the team about the scope of his injury. As a result of that, the Steelers passed up Dan Marino in the draft.

Terry’s history with the Steelers is complex both because it’s a brutal fan base and because Terry is a complex man with a lot of personal demons.

My resentment of this conversation and your silly comments is that you don’t give a damn about Terry Bradshaw and are stupid enough to think I’d be misdirected just because of that example I’ve never denied that Steelers fans can be brutal jerks. The point is that we don’t have any more jerks or fair-weather fans in our fan base than any other team.

Bully for you that you support the team win or lose. Me, too. I was just as vocally loyal during the pitiful 80s as I am today. But just as many of your fans drop out when the team is losing as our fans. In fact, given the long running sell-out record at Three Rivers, I’d say Pittsburgh can honestly claim a pretty loyal fan base. At the end of the day, your knickers are in a knot for one reason: You hate this rival team. So stop trying to make it sound like some moral crusade.

Bradshaw has mention numerous times how after his elbow injury in 1983 the team pressured him to return before he was totally healed. He did & he re-injured it & his career ended. That’s why he refused to return to Pittsburgh for like 20 years:

Also ask Bradshaw how “classy” the Steeler fans were when they cheered Turkey Jones of the Bengals when he broke Bradshaw’s collarbone in 1976 at 3 Rivers. It’s a famous play you can watch on YouTube. Yup, classy fan base. They were cheering because the team was like 1 -4 at the time & things didn’t look good so when Bradshaw got body slammed & hurt, the “classy” Pittsburgh crowd cheered.

I’ve know many Steeler fans since 1977 & the majority are obnoxious goofs who brag on the team at nauseum when the team’s good but then hide when the team sucks.

I follow my teams whether they are doing well or not. If they do well, I’m happy but without rubbing other fans’ noses in it. When they are bad, I don’t hide the fact I like them.

Most Steeler fans I know aren’t like that.

Okay, you’ve got me … I don’t watch Adult Swim. And yes, a lot of fans will defend anything the team or players do, but that is just as true for Ravens fans as Steelers fans. It’s true of every fan base (good grief, look at the blind nonsense Saints fans have posted in the face of e-mails and recordings). That’s why it’s annoying to have people act as though only Steelers fans can be loyal to a fault. To me, the Rooneys are great owners–that’s where the class comes in. As a fan base, we have the same positives and negatives, the same great fans and jerks, as any other team.

holeinone09 ends his posts with GO STEELERS because he supports the team. But his posts demonstrate tremendous football knowledge. Why should the tagline negate the content? I defended Roethlisberger on the assault accusations after thoroughly researching the evidence and finding it supported his innocence–a conclusion also reached by the authorities. But I also defend Ray Lewis. And I’m a huge critic of Roethlisberger’s general behavior and idiotic comments. I’m a Harrison fan, but still called for him to be suspended a game for his comments to Men’s Journal last year.

Steelers fans did rip Mendenhall when this story came out. I cringed at his comments, but in truth he’s only guilty of being ignorant in his understanding of world events and too stupid to realize public figures can’t tweet without consequences. As with most similar stories involving NFL players, the whole thing has been overblown. Who cares what a football player privately thinks about 9/11? No matter how wrongheaded it is, he’s entitled to his opinion.

You hate the Steelers, so you want to pretend our fans are sooo much worse than anyone else’s, and that’s not the case. And Bradshaw was abused at the beginning of his Pittsburgh career, not the end. He struggles himself with being “classy” at times.

There are plenty of guys who blindly defend any & every Steeler player no matter what and YOU know it. Don’t bury your head in the sand.

Don’t tell me this place has no blind Steeler homers. There are guys who make posts that end with “GO STEELERS” in EVERY post. Either they are big time homers or they are 8 years old.

And take a hard look at how plenty of Steeler fans here make excuses every time Big Ben or Harrison or (until recently) Ward did or said something stupid. You can’t tell me that if those players were on the Ravens instead of the Steelers that Pittsburgh fans wouldn’t be posting the same stuff about them the non-Steeler fans post now. If I hear 1 more Steeler fan claim the franchise is “classy” I’ll puke. Ask Bradshaw how “classy” they were towards him at the end of his career.

The interesting part of this story is not the legal side regarding free speech or whether Mendenhall breached his contract, but the comments itself; claiming that the towers collapse weren’t caused by hijacked planes. I must admit, at the time i thought Mendenhall was an idiot for such foolish comments. However, as more facts come out about 9/11 and how the towers actually collapsed, Mendenhall doesn’t look like an idiot any more. Our gov’t was definitely behind the world trade centers collapse. For any of you who think our gov’t isn’t capable of such horrific acts against its own people, you simply don’t understand the real history of our country and the lengths our country will go through to start a war for the sake of money. First off let’s review the scores of the games last season: Ravens win 35-7 Ravens win 23-20. If saying Ray Lewis is a murderer makes you feel good about your team then good for you. The charges against him were dropped because he did not do it. The prosecutor even said so.
