Like I said that dumb Ass Juan went to zone at the end of most those games. When Asante didn’t play why did he go to zone. You need to shut the .uck up about s… you evidently don’t know about . Watch every game every season then talk know that if Nhamdi jam a man and let him go that is not playing man It’s called redirecting them so that when he is looking crazy waiting on the running back or someone to come out in the flats that’s zone. This situation should have been handled better. Curtis Marsh will be alright he just got to get used to the position. Regardless Asante should have been traded for more than just a seventh round pick. That’s just disgraceful I see why Dawkins is hesitant about coming back signing a one day contract. This front office doesn’t know the meaning of respect period.

Before Trade: Asante is an old, expensive, and overrated CB. Not even worth a 7th round pick.

After Trade: Asante will have 2 ints and a pick six when the two teams meet. Also a steal for a 7th round pick.

As an Eagles Fan I want to chop my balls off for the added asset of one whole 7th round pick. We should also try to trade our 7th for Clay Matthews.

Let’s boil it down:

The Eagles signed him as a free agent, with no compensation to the Patriots.

Samuel intercepted as many passes in a two year period than any player in their history.

The Eagles got a draft pick for a guy they were going to cut.

To recap: The Eagles gave up nothing for a CB who gave them 3 great years at a reasonable price and then flipped him for a draft pick saving them tens of millions of dollars.

And the Eagles are to be criticized for what exactly?

The true analysis is NOT even close to if the 7th round pick’s playing ability > Asante’s playing ability. The comparison should if having $10m more (either to save or spend with new cap room) + 7th round pick > Asante (on a team that already has Nnamdi and DRC). If the Eagles would have released him anyways, then obviously this deal is good unless they were getting better offers from other teams which I am sure they were not. I think this is a fine deal for both teams.

Sounds like typical eagles fans: talk trash about a guy that you were rooting for a minute ago. All I keep reading is how “he can’t tackle” and “he’s washed up” but yet he only allowed less than 2 receptions a game all of last season. I guess his decline in interceptions had nothing to do with him being targeted only 4 times a game and the opposing team exploiting nnamdi and drc. You eagles fan crack me up. My Falcons pass defense was dreadful awful terrible horrid last year. I’ll GLADLY take a 31 year old corner with some gas left in the tank over a 7th founder who woulda got cut before preseason started.

The fact that the falcons were the only team interested, and the fact that they only had to give a 7th rounder for him, speaks volumes about his personality. Apparently Asante is not the best team mate in the world. He can play, but are a few impact plays worth it if he ruins the team chemistry?

Are you FORKING kidding me??? This is a huge mistake. I hope for Reid s sake that DRC plays well. They made a huge mistake years ago letting Dawkins walk and haven’t found even a decent replacement , even after using low round draft pick after draft pick . As an Eagles fan its hard to feel ok with them getting rid of a corner of his caliber for basically nothing. The cap number is an excuse bc he is restructuring his contract as part of the trade. He always said he wanted to stay in philly so you know he would’ve restructured his contract for them ad well.

Jezi- They “wanted a 3rd” because, after getting a 2nd and 4th for mcnabb and a 2nd and a CB for kolb, why not ask for a 3rd for a brand-name guy you’re gonna cut anyway? They wanted anything. they set the price at a third to see who they could snow. Didn’t happen this time, but has in the past, and will again.

Looks like this time the eagles got the shorter end of the stick, how you go from wanting 3rd and 4th round to 4th and 5th round and settling for a seventh round pick? As a broncos fan, im glad the broncos didn’t get him but this is a steal for the falcons, they gave pretty much nothing for him. What talent are you gonna find in the seventh round who can contribute right away.Samuel will be on the opposing side of grimes and this duo will give WRs headaches

I have to say that 86% of u are idiots. Eagles need to pay shady McCoy. Their defense went from playing zone to man. Asante doesn’t play man. This was a win win for both. I loved Asante while he was in Philly. But ur a fool if u think Philly disrespected him. Atlanta got Asante for the same reason the eagles got DeMeco Ryans. Change in defensive scheme. Maybe u jackasses should learn the game of football rather than just spurt opinions here that prove ur stupidity.

Alright Eagles fans, let’s look at things a little more closely:
A previously solid defense regressed under newly converted Defensive Coordinator Juan Castillo (changed from Offensive Line Coach).
Castillo, having 3 Pro Bowl Man to Man Coverage-playing ball hawking Cornerbacks at his disposal (Asomoghua, DRC, & Samuel), choses instead to employ them in a zone coverage scheme that none of them excelled at.
And somehow, that makes Samuel damaged goods?
Whatever gets you through the night.
But you should’ve tried to get a 7th rounder for that scrub of a DC.
Samuel will likely succeed in Atlanta, especially with the Saints imploding with a new scandal seemingly breaking every couple of days.
Do let us know how that 7th rounder pans out.

Oh lets not forget that he’s an NFL player who can’t/can not/ does not/will not tackle anyone, ever. Get used to bubble screens Atlanta, because you will be seeing them, 15-20 times a week for the next 3 years.
