Sanchez, Holmes booed at Knicks game

Earlier this month, Jets punt protector Tim Tebow was booed at a Yankees game.  Tonight, two of his teammates received similar treatment at Madison Square Garden.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that quarterback Mark Sanchez and receiver Santonio Holmes heard boos when an image of the duo sitting courtside was displayed on the video board during the game between the Knicks and the L.A. Clippers.

It has been widely reported that Holmes and Sanchez were at odds last season, a rift that began because Sanchez couldn’t get the ball to Holmes enough to keep the receiver happy, a standard that possibly would be satisfied only if Sanchez completed a pass to Holmes on every single play.  The inability of the two men to act like grown men apparently hasn’t been lost on the citizens of New York.

Jets fans likely will post comments explaining that Knicks fans predominantly are Giants fans.  If Holmes and Sanchez and Tebow don’t get it together for 2012, the Jets fans at MetLife Stadium will sound predominantly like Giants fans, too.

  1. Our mission is to for people learn their place in the world. That is below us. The Steeler Nation is the pinnacle of existence and evolution. You do not yet comprehend your place in things. We bathe in the glories of success as you fumble in the darkness of our shadows. This will always be.

The Steeler Nation simply wants people to understand their place in things. Sometimes this rubs off in the wrong way and fans see us as arrogant or even stupid. This isn’t the case and we hope to clarify things.

Our greatness was always there. From the Ice Age to the Renassaince etc. Certain humans have always had an untapped potential. The Steeler Effect some call it. This “effect” exists in certain humans. These humans are now know within the society of Steeler Nation. Once these extraordinary group of humans founded the Steelers, they found a medium in which to release this power.

In the beginning, we struggled. There were agents from powerful groups around the world that wanted to hinder our motives to unleash our greatness. They were very successful in this and there was chaos within our organization. This sabatoge lasted for 40 years until we final won our civil war, and our enemies retreated to replan their attack.

At this point we have reached our potential. Our race reached the our potential. We’ve become the pinnacle of evolution and existence. We’ve become the closest things to Gods. Steeler Nation was unstoppable. We would use all our abilities into the game of football. The game we created.

Then our enemy returned. They have smuggled themselves into the highest places in the league. They will do anything to turn back the clock on our people and cast us back into the unknown. During the 80s and some of the 90s they had suffocated us. We countered and despite their attempts to oppress us, we won two more SBs in the 00s. They have now reached their highest strength in their existence, but so have we.

We must now fulfil our destiny and win SB #7 and begin our own league where our people can bathe in the glory of unified greatness. Pure Steeler blood will run through the veins of everyone in our league. Oh, the glory!

You mere mortals will never outlast us. We are infinite. You are bacteria. We will triumph over our enemies thousands of times over until they release their will. We will defy the odds they have put in place to keep us from repeating our success. We will laugh as the NFL falls to ashes when we leave, as we were the chimney to the fire.

For those looking for more information on the SFL, we will pass along information as it is released. Most should already know the outline by now. We want to be benevolent rulers. We are open to feedback and want to find new ways to reach out to our lowly humans couterparts. Thank you for your patience. Steeler Bless.

  2. Maybe Jets players should just go to the movies. In the dark, and unseen where they belong.

  3. I mean, Jets fans undoubtedly would boo Santonio, would they not? And there were definitely a lot of Giants fans around. But, as a Jets fan, and one who is a particularly strong Sanchez supporter, there a lot of people in Gang Green nation not happy with last years results. Really a non-story, but not surprising.

  4. You have to grow up in NYC to understand the loyalties. When I was a kid in the early 60’s, the Yanks, Giants, Knicks and Rangers were the established teams. Everyone else came later (and mostly out on the Island – Mets, Nets, Jets, Islanderettes. Never mind the Devils.

  5. I apparently missed where Sanchez acquitted himself in a way not befitting “grown men” in how he handled the rift with Holmes.

  6. Nah most Knicks fans ARE Giants fans. MSG is the microcosm of NYC sports fans and you can tell us apart. But just as it is throughout the tri-state (65/35 Giants), the Garden reflected that tonight — as there WERE cheers when Sanchez was out there shooting, but you could tell 2/3 of the crowd was booing them.

  7. “Jets fans likely will post comments explaining that Knicks fans predominantly are Giants fans.”

Uh, no. Speaking as Jets fan myself, I can practically guarantee those were the Gang Green faithful.

  8. It is absolutely ridiculous how obsesses the media is with anything Jets related. Who the hell cares about this?

Btw, the fans of MSG is the least representative of avg NY fans of any team. Their fix are way too expensive for anything but the corporate fan.
The avg NY Jet Lives on Long Island and is NOT at MSG on a Wednesday night.

Go look at Long Island real estate. It’s not NYC, but it’s not cheap by any means.

  10. @ 7thlombardiontheway

I’m a steelers fan, and that was embarrassing to read. Don’t substitute the word “steeler” for “god”. You most likely are one of the yinzers that give steelers fans a terrible name…embarrassing

  11. They weren’t booed because they are on the Jets. They were booed because they lose and they are not humble. They are a bunch of loud-mouth, big-talking losers. The Jets are very hard to root for and hard to like. It’s that simple.

  12. Put Eli & Nicks in the same seats and the standing ovation will last 10 minutes. Wait, where’s Gregg to tell us how for the 30th time that NYC is now the Jets city because they are on the back of the Post? Gregg? Gregg?

First I would like to congratulate you. That was quite possibly the longest semi-coherent piece of writing by a Steelers fan in the history of PFT, you must have stuck with high school till at least grade 8, maybe 9, and for that you should be considered an inspiration to Steelers fans everywhere. Secondly, it’s becoming clear that you have an unhealthy crush on the Steelers and their players and are trying to find ways to express your love. Instead of wasting your time writing here on PFT you should just ask Big Ben nicely, maybe buy him a couple drinks, I am sure he will let you blow him.

  14. Well, seeing they are Knicks fans, I would assume that after years of being terrible, they simple forgot how to cheer. Enjoy the first round exit… I also don’t think Holmes wants the ball on every passing play, I think he just wants the Vag throwing the balls to find him when he is open by stepping up behind their stud center, instead of running back and fourth for a sac.

  15. Good Lord, NY is a tough town. LOL I don’t know why ANYONE wants to subject themselves to NY or Philadelphia… It’s just a whole new level of cruel… If Tebow benefits from going into that market it’ll be at a price.

  16. The avg NY Jet Lives on Long Island and is NOT at MSG on a Wednesday night.

  17. To 7thlombardiontheway,

You need to shut the hell up, you’re making all the knowledgeable Steelers fans look terrible. You are the reason people hate Steelers fans.

    From,

    A fellow Steelers fan

  18. 7thlombardiontheway: that is seriously the gayest comment I’ve EVER read on this site. I hope for your sake you have a girlfriend or some form of social life. Seriously dude, PLEASE seek help. I’ve never facepalmed harder in my life, and I’m dead serious.

  19. 7thlombardiontheway…your team’s mission is 7-9 and I know they’ll make it.

Now, can I have my fries, please?

…and fans see us as arrogant or even stupid

Should have stopped right there. Nailed it

  21. I know New York, all of the Knicks fans like the Giants, Yankees, and NY Rangers.

In contrast, all of the Nets fans like the Jets, Mets, and Islanders…. Just kidding.

  22. 7th lombardi… Im guessing your a steelers fan.. so if you could enlighten us with your infinate wisdom, please explain what the meaning of life is oh and also how a grown man (ben) could do the things he did..

  23. If Holmes wasn’t happy by not seeing the ball enough with Sanchez, wait till Tebow gets his “packages”. Holmes might sit down again and pull a Scotty Pippin.

  24. And to those who knock New York fans have it wrong. Knock New York teams, but historically the most knowledgeable fans had their ancestors come through Ellis Island and stayed!

  25. I was at the game. I am a Knicks fan. I am a Jets fan.

I booed Santonio Holmes lustily. I did not get the sense the booing was directed at Sanchez.

Either way, why this is news the night before the draft is beyond me. But it did generate traffic hits like everything Jets/Eagles/Cowboys/Bounty-gate does. So there is that.

  26. @7thlombardi:

Starting a little early this year, Junior?

I would have thought the taste of your great Steelers getting beat by that scrub Tebow would still be fresh in your mouth.

Get back under that rock, doosh. Start talking smack AFTER they start winning.

  27. People may claim they’re sick of reading about the Jets, but it’s like driving by the horrific car wreck on the freeway. You can’t help but look.

If you are truly sick of reading about the Kardashians of the NFL, stop clicking on the links.

For NY Post readers, no clickee, reporter no writee.

  28. I love when people comment like “NY, stay classy.”

So when I go to Philly, DC, Baltimore, Cincy, Detroit, NE, San Diego, Frisco, Miami, etc..

I wont see the same things I see in New York, but much smaller buildings?

Some of you actually need to get out and see the world. Your domination of your mother’s basement has to come to an end at some point.

  29. I love how people talk smack about the most successfull team in n.f.l. History …you could say greatest franchise ever…ever….ever..

The aforementioned arrogant comment simply justifies every replay of that Tim Tebow walk off TD pass at Invesco …. i mean, to be DONE like that by the worst starting QB of 2011. Still waiting for that 7th lombardi

Priceless. Yeah, Touchdown Jesus pretty much comprehended his place in things.

  32. I think the fans are tired of the drama with the jets. Also, the giants just won the superbowl, so the other team in town are losers.

ultimately, it doesn’t make a difference if they get boos, or cheers. It only matters how they play.

What kind of reaction would Mike Florio get at MSG? of course, most people don’t know what he looks like, but if the crowd was full of people that did, my guess is he would get loud boos, and possibly people throwing things.

  33. Wow, Steelerloser, there is more to life than football. Get out of mom’s basement, go meet some girls, get some kind of life. I bet you that nobody on the steelers team of in the front office gives a hoot about you, so maybe your whole life shoudn’t revolve around them

  34. Can’t believe I’m defending him but what has Sanchez done that’s not “grown man?”
Holmes is an idiot and a basket case; that’s well-established.

  35. I will forever be thankful and appreciative of Santonio’s game-winning catch in Super Bowl 43. Without him, the Steelers do not win their 6th Super Bowl. That being said, he really screwed himself. He could have had a wonderful year, playing with an elite QB. Instead, he is stuck on a sh**ty team, with a hillbilly coach, with one of the worst QBs in the NFL. Can’t say I feel bad for him.

  36. Booing a Super Bowl MVP and a 3 year QB who has won 4 playoff games on the road is typical what have you done for me lately short sighted BS. Granted last year was a disappointment, but come on. The season hasn’t even started yet.
No class Knicks fans. And I am a Knicks and Jets fan.

  37. Re: 7thlombardi’s rant- I LOVE to hear myself talk, too. What a JOKE ! You have a qb twice accused of sexual misconduct as the face of your franchise and you say THAT? Haha-hahahahaha-haahahhahhahaha!

You have GOT to be kidding US !

  38. Woody’s corporate PR show, it was all staged last night. Mostly Jet fans booed, Giant fans fed up with Rex on back page and Woody signing top character. Jets have many seats unsold.

BINGO! Nailed it. He’s successful at inciting Steeler fans and non-Steeler fans into flamewars.

He’s like Rebecca Black’s parents albeit on a smaller scale. They trolled the world by buying her way in to becoming a short term youtube sensation, then watched with glee as the world responded to her with flames and death threats.
