Not because I think marijuana is the root of all evil or any nonsense like that, but because in testing positive, in an event they knew for months in advance that they would be tested at — that player showed me the caliber of his decision making skills and self-discipline and they were both severely lacking to non-existant.

They may also need to accept that if the claim of medicinal use is made, HIPPA privacy guidelines would make any positive test private – and not something that could be shared with GMs or the public.

If they were really concerned about player welfare they’d prohibit the more harmful drugs – albeit the legal, taxable ones like alcohol – as well. But I don’t see that happening no matter how many players get DWIs

I can’t think of the last time I read about an NFL player getting high and killing someone – but I recall more than a few players who killed people driving drunk.

You don’t get it. Like it or not, weed is against the law and is considered a narcotic. These guys know weed is against the law and against league (and NCAA) rules, yet they STILL decided to flaunt the rules and law. They KNOW they will be tested at the Combine, yet still smoked. That just raises a flag to their intelligence level much more so than the Wonderlic test.
