Chargers still trying to move up for Mark Barron

Kevin Acee of the Union-Tribune San Diego reported days ago that the Chargers had discussed trading up in the draft for Alabama safety Mark Barron.

Leading up to Thursday’s first round of the draft, Acee reports that those talks have continued. It’s believed the Chargers would have to leap from their current slot at No. 18, all the way up to No. 10. They’d definitely have to get in front of the Cowboys.

As we recently discussed in San Diego’s pre-draft team needs article, the Chargers have lacked a steady strong safety since Rodney Harrison left the club following the 2003 season. Barron would be a long-term solution.
