The Philadelphia Eagles couldn’t keep their love for Mississippi State defensive tackle Fletcher Cox a secret leading up to the draft. But Cox fell further down the board than most anticipated, and he became a realistic trade-up target for Philadelphia at the 12th overall pick.
The Eagles sent pick Nos. 15, 114, and 172 to Seattle in exchange for No. 12. And with the 12th pick, they drafted Cox.
At 6-foot-4, 298, Cox ran an impressive 4.81 forty-yard dash at February’s Scouting Combine. He has huge hands and long arms, and is an up-the-field pass rusher who will fit nicely into line coach Jim Washburn’s “Wide-Nine” scheme.
