Gotta love the Browns, they never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

If I were Colt I’d tell the Browns they can take their chump change and shove it. First, they were going to sit him for two years, but threw him into the fire anyway. Then, they changed offensive schemes after his first year while trading away what little talent Colt had around him. Smart move.

There is no way in hell I’d show up for training camp if I were him. Clevenland is not the end of the earth, but you can see it from there.

@klumpofbrownsadness: In what universe do you live if you believe the Browns will get a 2nd and 3rd for Colt McCoy? Colt is getting a raw deal from the Browns brass, but the Browns would be dumping him on the market as a cap move. He would be serving as a back-up QB until he would get another shot to prove himself. He would fit well enough in Green Bay, but no one would expect it to be a long term stay. Hopefully for Colt, he lands with a quality organization and gets to rehabilitate his career.

There is substantial evidence that the Pack has a proven way to do a good job of evaluating young QB talent and Green Bay has a proven approach to develop young QB talent.

So, if the Green Bay managers have an authentic interest in Colt McCoy, I believe they see something that Cleveland missed. It’s a good idea to get Colt on board for a 6th or 7th instead of using a 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th to take a rookie QB who has never been in a pro game before.

Interesting/fascinating that the Pack got involved so fast on Colt after the Weeden pick materialized. Hats off to Mr. Thompson and his staff for being constantly alert for opportunities.

It’s impressive …. seems like there’s a bunch of supercomputers working in the offices over on the third floor at Lambeau. So, I don’t have to spend time second guessing what they do with our roster. Makes it an easier job to be a fan.

Your first pick was Trent Richardson, your kicker is Phil Dawson, Josh Cribbs is on punt and kick return and you finally have a top 10 defense. At this point you’re one O lineman away from Holmgren probably being able to get your team 8 wins if he QB’d himself. If you don’t understand, ask Baltimore fans, they’re QB is useless and they make the playoffs yearly.

I have to say that I like McCoy, and also felt that he did not have a good surrounding cast namely, WR’s and RB’s. I would like to see him stay compete for the starting QB’s position and may the best man win. If McCoy becomes 2nd that would be good. I actually say trade Wallace, let him go to GB, the dude is a cancer and said flat out he would not mentor any young talent as he wants to be a starter. Trade Wallace, perfect opportunity to cut your ties.

@Nickster, I agree that DeCastro will be a good guard, but you lose the debate by basing your argument on where a kid is projected. You’re using a mock draft “expert” by media people and not by GMs. Let’s not give too much credit to the McShay’s or Mel Kiper’s over GMs.

Holmgren stated it takes 3 years for a quarterback to get up to speed. Colt has had 1.5 seasons and last year the Browns set a record for dropped passes. He also had no protection from the front line and the coaches play calls were a joke! Now tell me how much more luck the new quarterback will have? Yes we have a great running back but the offensive line is still a joke without a right tackle. Holmgren will not follow his own opinions.

I think he would be a great fit for the birds as a backup to the injury prone vick. Maybe a 5th and 7th gets him, throw in trent edwards too. Colt could learn under a great qb coach and work in the west coast system which I think suits his style and arm.

It’s amazing how much support a bad player like McCoy is getting here. I suppose it stems from his early couple of wins and decent showings in his rookie year.

Fact is that McCoy is Koy Detmre reincarnated. If anyone is being serious about building a championship squad, he simply doesn’t have the physical tools to take a team anywhere.

Had Newton slipped to them last year, they would have taken him. Obviously, Holmgren and his guys thought this old rookie was good enough for the task.

They’ve never been sold on mcCoy, and truthfully, Holmgren freely admitted that the only reason he was drafted with that 3rd round pick a couple of years ago was because he overruled his scouting department and asked them to deviate from their board.

Point is, no one in their right mind thought it was going to be McCoy long term. Classic example of the league figuring a smart, all be it physically inferior player out once they’ve gotten a book on him.

Looks like a series of former Big12 qb’s playing musical chairs to me. Weeden replaces Colt who replaces Harrell ( who i didn’t even know was in the league.) but seriously, is Colt even allowed to compete for the starting position or has Holmgren seen all that he wants to see ???

last year draft RB from Alabama, was on an undefeated National Champ team, went in 2nd round draft to New Orleans, Mark Ingram, has done what?

Colt finished fine in NFL in completions and about 7th in all of AFC and yet…

his receivers had almost the worst drop record !

Now a new QB has to learn against the best run defense rival Steelers… Harrison is licking his chops and Ray Lewis after another rookie.. lol
