@Deb - no doubt, those Bama boys are monsters. I wanted Hightower soooooo badly. Then again, I didn't expect Upshaw to be there at 29, let alone 35!

I really like your pick of Ta'ama. I'm not thrilled about any of our picks other than Upshaw...but if they play as advertised I'll be thrilled. Bengals did very well. Trent is a beast, but Browns don't concern me. They still don't have a good QB or receiving corps. But, as we learned here in 2000...strong D & runni game can take you far. Their D is good, but it ain't THAT good!

:D If there's one guy out there I'd trust as much as Colbert, it's Ozzie. The only fly in my draft is that all three of our division rivals have taken guys from my Crimson Tide. Saban has all of them ready to start. Courtney Upshaw was not happy about falling into the second round--that will be good for your Ravens. He'll work hard for you. Dre Kirkpatrick is a great addition for the Bengals secondary. And Trent going to the Browns is scary. This guy is murder on run defenses. Unbelievably powerful back with tremendous heart. I think the whole division has had a pretty good draft.

@Deb - all class as usual! That was a cheap shot on my part. Thanks for not responding in kind! :) We all know the Steelers aren't stupid. They have some plan for this kid. I just think it's hilarious how the talking heads just fawn all over whatever the Steelers do - and the Ravens as well...I'm not exactly overwhelmed by our picks - when they don't really know their stuff...

Which brings me back to you @Osgood. Again - some remedial education would serve you well. Kiper watches tape and makes his own evaluations. So does Tim Kirwan. John Clayton does not. Very few of the analysts you are watching on NFL Network & ESPN do their own evaluations. That's the difference. That's the point I'm making...even if it's lost in e vast recesses of your mind. Not all talking heads are the same...sheesh!

...and I'm sorry, but I just don't see how the Steelers are having such an awesome draft. Decastro is a great pick. Adams is a question mark. Spence doesn't seem to be a good pick, but who knows. I like the Sproles type guy you "stole." Steelers always make good use of guys like that...I still see Steelers as a team on the decline. But who knows. Go back & look at your last 7 drafts. Disregard the last 2 because the jury is still out on those. The 5 before that are hardly anything to brag about. For a smash mouth defense oriented team you've done a great job finding wide receivers!

I'm on NFL Network and missed those analyses, but the pick puzzled me as well. You know Tomlin is a 4/3, Tampa-2 guy. With us taking a NT in the fourth, I'm not expecting changes to our scheme, but do think we'll try mixing things up a bit more in different packages. My guess is that they have a role in mind for him.

Also, ripping me for only listening to talking heads I agree with by quoting talking heads you agree with is an interesting and wildly hypocritical tactic. It says a good bit about ones confidence in their own team when they have to troll rivals stories, making outrageous and speculative comments in order to make themselves feel better. Deb:

Unfortunately for your argument regarding alcohol vs. marijuana & the presumably self evident hippocracy-it just doesn’t play.
In the simplest of all possible terms, for better or worse, marijuana use is currently illegal. Alcohol use currently is not.
-------------------------------------------------
Please excuse the choice of examples, but in the simplest of all possible terms, for better or worse, sodomy is currently illegal in many states. Something tells me that wouldn't stop you gentlemen from participating in oral sex. So your argument just doesn't play.

Yes, marijuana is illegal. My only point was that it's hypocritical for alcohol drinkers to act as though it's a big, bad drug ... given that alcohol has been proved to play a significant role in domestic abuse, rape, battery, molestation, workplace injury and traffic deaths.

Interesting to have you agree that decriminalizing marijuana would likely result in the economic benefits I mentioned ... yet you think only the "socialists" are likely to do it. That's the first time I've heard someone suggest the "socialists" are fiscally responsible. We also agree that his pot history doesn't make Adams satanic  He'll either be an asset or he'll be out of a job. I think the team make a good gamble.

I was suggesting you pay attention to people who watch tape & evaluate players...and not the talking heads who just speak to personnel people & pass on their spin. So maybe when a guy like Mel Kiper writes "he's not a dynamic or top echelon prospect, but he stays on his feet in traffic and, as a weak side linebacker in a 4-3, Spence figures to be a nice fit" you might stop being a psycophant and question why a devoted 3-4 team like the Steelers would pick him? If you were listening to Pat Kirwan when the pick was made - someone else who watches film - you would have heard him and the whole Sirius NFL crowd say the exact same thing & also say that the pick made absolutely no sense for the Steelers. So maybe the Internet is worse off for me sharing these perspectives, but maybe...just maybe...you want to dig a little deeper than the talking head spin you prefer. Way to stay on topic there, but I'll go ahead & play along for a few. I was never a Bush fan myself. That said-I'm not sure whether YOU are currently under the influence, able to properly read a calendar, or otherwise keep up with current events...
It's April 28, 2012. We're are currently 3 years & 4 months into this country's latest experiment with socialism. The nation's unemployment rate grew a full 3 percent under one Barrack Hussein Obama. So if Adams' family is indeed having difficulty finding work, you're going to have to work just a little bit harder to find a way to blame Bush on that one.
Personally, I have a hard time understanding why anybody (other than those who are physically or mentally handicapped) would say they're having a hard time finding work. One may not be happy with whatever jobs are available, or overwhelmed with the prevailing wages, but there always seems to be something to do. Jobs are so hard to find I have 2 of them, & have for my entire adult life. I'll not be blaming anybody for that though. That's my own responsibility.

jluns275 says:

Way to stay on topic there, but I’ll go ahead & play along for a few. I was never a Bush fan myself. That said-I’m not sure whether YOU are currently under the influence, able to properly read a calendar, or otherwise keep up with current events…
It’s April 28, 2012. We’re are currently 3 years & 4 months into this country’s latest experiment with socialism. The nation’s unemployment rate grew a full 3 percent under one Barrack Hussein Obama. So if Adams’ family is indeed having difficulty finding work, you’re going to have to work just a little bit harder to find a way to blame Bush on that one.
Personally, I have a hard time understanding why anybody (other than those who are physically or mentally handicapped) would say they’re having a hard time finding work. One may not be happy with whatever jobs are available, or overwhelmed with the prevailing wages, but there always seems to be something to do. Jobs are so hard to find I have 2 of them, & have for my entire adult life. I’ll not be blaming anybody for that though. That’s my own responsibility.

And really, either way the Steelers will get what they deserve in regards to the Mike Adams pick:
Either he'll behave, go on to have a solid career while not getting any failed UA-related or other suspensions, thus showing the Steelers to have been righteous in forgiving Adams' lie;
or:
He'll be out of the league in 3 or 4 years after playing only intermittently due to continued drug related &/or law trouble related suspensions, thus burning the Steelers for believing another whopper of a lie from
Adams.
Based on his actions & behavior so far, which do you think is more likely?
We'll see.
Good luck to Adams & the Steelers. I've a feeling they'll both need it on this issue.

Business as usual for the Steelers. While most morons have been believing that “they are on the decline” for the past 10 years, they continue to ensure through the draft that they will be consistently one of the best teams in the NFL. Grabbing two starters in the first two rounds, and they will get another future starter today at NT. Sorry, idiots, the Steelers aren’t going anywhere.

Whats next? The SMU Cash scandal from the 80s?

I'm sure Adams would be willing to play by the rules to keep the job as you suggest-just as he did in the period of time leading up to the combine when he....

I wholeheartedly agree legalizing & generously taxing marijuana would do some of those things you mentioned to benefit our society. As a matter of fact, I'm quite certain we'll find out before too awful long (especially if the country continues to elect socialists into positions of power).
Unfortunately for your argument regarding alcohol vs. marijuana & the presumably self evident hippocracy-it just doesn't play.
In the simplest of all possible terms, for better or worse, marijuana use is currently illegal.
Alcohol use currently is not.
If these 2 simple facts were not the case, we'd not be having this conversation.
None of these things make Adams a bad person...well ok, maybe a little untrustworthy, but certainly not a villian.
It just makes him a bad gamble for an NFL franchise that has every right to restrict the use of illegal (or even legal) substances by employees & representatives of the team.
That's the simplest part that marijuana advocates cannot seem to grasp.

I routinely want to slap Ben upside the head for his lazy work ethic and idiotic comments. But when a woman texts friends she can't wait to see a guy again and another's medical exam shows she didn't have sex with anyone that evening, they weren't raped. I know this doesn't fit your Steelers rape fantasy, but it is what it is.

As for Adams ... I don't use either, but any alcohol drinker damning the morals of a pot smoker should get an A in hypocrisy. Want to reduce the national debt? Decriminalize pot and start taxing it like alcohol. Poof ... you cut prison overcrowding, court costs, testing costs, and gain a big new source of revenue. And I'm sure none of you angels has ever lied to a potential employer  The guy was willing to jump through their hoops to get the job. He'll probably be willing to play by the rules to keep it.

I know this doesn’t fit your Steelers rape fantasy, but it is what it is.

As for Adams … I don’t use either, but any alcohol drinker damning the morals of a pot smoker should get an A in hypocrisy. Want to reduce the national debt? Decriminalize pot and start taxing it like alcohol. Poof … you cut prison overcrowding, court costs, testing costs, and gain a big new source of revenue. And I’m sure none of you angels has ever lied to a potential employer The guy was willing to jump through their hoops to get the job. He’ll probably be willing to play by the rules to keep it.

Trent Richardson & Brandon Wheeden?
The Browns just adressed 2 glaring needs.
How is that not a better draft than any of the other AFC North teams?
