The Giants faced multiple playoff teams during the regular season - and they lost.
(SF, NO, GB)

So if a team goes 13-3, but doesn't face any quality teams, that makes them more deserving to be in the playoffs, or more deserving to be the champion?

Instead, the Giants came back from loses during the season, to win when it mattered.

They deserve to be standing on top of the podium just as much as any other team.

Somebody get the DBAG above a tampon and some Summer's Eve. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if you were the kid who got your arse kicked in every single sport you played in your entire life - then made excuses as to why you suck.

Even your mother knows you're soft.

janvanflac says:
Apr 28, 2012 8:17 PM
“And the best TEAM — TEAM — won the Super Bowl, not the best record-possessing conglomerate of talent.”

BS. The Giants were twice the luckiest, most improbable, least deserving SB champs ever. Both years they won, they pretty much sucked before going on an unlikely run.

They shouldn’t have even made the playoffs & the NFCG was absolutely handed to them, and they had the good fortune of playing a team that was distracted by a tragedy in the divisional round.

It seems like they had a fine draft but they just weren’t that good last year.

So I guess because the Rams beat the Saints in week 8 they must be the better team.

Moron. Being the best in the NFL isn't about winning in the regular season. It's about having the most depth/talent and being able to manage the ebbs and flows of a 22 week season. Every team has problems matching up to at least one other team. Being the best is about having the best depth/talent/and gameplan to be able to have the best matchups against the most teams.

So the Saints beat the Giants in week 12. BFD. That doesn't make them the best team. That's the same line of thinking that suggests the Broncos must have been the best in the NFL in 2009 because they started off 6-0.

Every team in the league knows the schedule going into the season. They know they have 16 regular season games to make the playoffs. They know they have to win 3 or 4 games to win the Super Bowl. They build their teams accordingly.

Sometimes in the regular season teams play differently than in the playoffs when it's d0-or-die. They rest players who are questionable with injuries when they otherwise wouldn't if their season was on the line in the playoffs. Sometimes teams and players start off hot and then cool down noticeable by the end of the year because teams learn how to gameplan against them after watching the tape. That's part of the game and every player/team knows it.

So quit your whining about the Giants being lucky or not really being the best team, and just sit back and choke on the fact that they've been the best team of the last quarter century (4 Super Bowl wins in the last 25 years - more than any other franchise)

Yep, the Giants got Lucky by having JPP BLOCK that field goal against Dallas and by having their players KNOCK Vick out of the game.

Perhaps you are confusing the word "luck" with "playing."

I spent years watching the Eagles and Randall Cunningham get lucky against the Giants (Down at the 5 yard line anyone? Carl Banks Doesn't wrap RC up?) so don't cry about being lucky. The Eagles had their chances and couldn't manage to capitalize.

The Giants have a better D-Line, Better Receivers and, of course, a better QB than the Eagles. Maybe that changes this year, but it was clearly true this year.

Many fans here are forgetting one reason the Gmen were only 9-7 during the season was because of many injuries to key players- TThomas, Prince, Goff, Hixon, Osi, Tuck, and others not as big named. When you lose this many guys, naturally you are going to be disadvantaged. Fortunately, we were able to win enough and got many of them back at the end. Let's face it, luck (injuries) plays a part too.
Best wishes to all this coming year. Repeating ain't easy but I'm satisfied enough having won 2 in 5 years. That satisfaction will last at least 4 more years too.

7to10for6allday says:Apr 28, 2012 8:21 PM

Props to the giants for winning the SB…..but “the best team just got better”. Is BS. Eagles were 5-1 in the division and 9-1 vs the giants in the last 10 meetings. Eagles will win the division this year. And hopefully they get hot at the end when it matters. #bleedgreenforlife

Whatever, people said the same thing last year, exactly how many SB's have the Eagles won?

What's that I hear, crickets? Yes it's crickets...chirp.....chirp.........

I find it hard to believe the best team in the nfl would have to embarrass themselves by laying down and faking injuries.. or get caught up in a little bounty scandal themselves. The ball seemed to bounce in their favor more than once to allow them to back into the playoffs.. Cowboys had them beat but missed a fg.. Vick got knocked out on a late hit in a game philly was winning... so Yah Giants you got a lot of luck.

How can anyone Argue that any team other than the Giants are the best team in the League????! It makes no sense!!!
I don't care If your team beat them 2x in the regular season, they are the Champs!!!!! Coming from a Viking fan, who dislikes them, they are a killer team with great coaching, awesome receivers & a clutch Qb!
Any argument that your team is better is embarrassing

Honestly, did anyone see the QB's Randall had to deal with at LSU? Average is an over-statement. Now you have a legitimate elite qb in Eli, with a superior coaching staff that will give this guy ample oppertunity to prove his worth. This guy is no Sinorice Moss, I can tell you that for sure, and this guy played against the best conferance in college football (SEC). The highlights he does have shows a lot of potential, so before anyone can give a true draft grade on any team this year, you will have to wait atleast until 2015. From what I see though, good job G-Men... we addressed all the needs I was concerned about

Arguing about the "best team" of last year is ridiculous. There was no one dominant team last year. The NFL is about matchups. I definitely believe the Saints would have beaten the Giants handily had they gotten the chance. It was a bad matchup for the Giants (as was apparent when the teams played). But, the Saints couldn't get past the 49ers. That's how it works in the playoffs. Anyone that thinks playoff systems crown the "best team" is fooling themselves. In the NFL, anyone can beat anyone else on a given day.

You can't win a Super Bowl without a little luck. The Giants won, and they should be celebrated for doing so.

With all this banter about what team is the best, I wish that there was a way that the teams could play each other in a way that is structured so that every team a had a reasonable amount of games to play, let's say 16, After said games were played the best 12 teams could play in a playoff where the winners move on and the losers go home.
The last team standing would be the BEST TEAM IN THE NFL

If they did that than MAYBE there would some closure on the case....

Until then I guess we will never really know...

PS
The Giants played NO NE SF GB NYJ in the regular season. Not including Philly and Dallas twice

PPS

All the hate makes WINNING THE SB soo much sweeter 

As an LSU alumnus, I've watched Randle closely over the past few years. Poor quarterback play killed his stock. Randle's the best WR to come out of LSU since Dwayne Bowe. He's probably better than Brandon LaFell or Early Doucet right now.

Nice pick, Giants. I was hoping he'd fall to the Saints.

Suck it up, pal. If you aren't a Giants fan, then your team lost last year. There are plenty of years that the Giants cannot say they are the defending champs, the best team in the NFL. This year is NOT that year!
