Chargers work deals with 20 undrafted free agents

Jarrett Lee Pic

The Chargers have been among the NFL’s most active teams when it comes to rookie free-agent signings. Michel Gehlken of the Union-Tribune San Diego has a list of 2o additions. They are:

Applachian State cornerback DeAndre Presley, Arizona State receiver Mike Willie, Arkansas cornerback Greg Gatson, Cal safety Sean Cattouse, Fresno State defensive end Logan Harrell, Houston running back Mike Hayes, LSU quarterback Jarrett Lee, Mississippi State guard Cordell Bell, Mississippi Valley State receiver Paul Cox, Montana guard/tackle Charles Burton, Oklahoma State receiver Hubert Anyiam, Rice punter Kyle Martens, South Carolina receiver Jason Barnes, Tennessee long snapper Nick Guess, Texas A&M defensive tackle Eddie Brown, UCF linebacker Josh Linam, UCLA guard/tackle Mike Harris, UCLA receiver Taylor Embree, UNLV receiver Phillip Payne, and USC defensive tackle Christian Tupou.

UPDATE: The Chargers also signed San Jose State fullback Mohamed Marah, bringing their UDFA total to 21.

Logan Harrell and Jarrett Lee stand out among the group. A defensive end at Fresno State, Harrell amassed 34.5 career tackles for loss and 18.5 sacks as a two-year starter. Harrell’s godfather happens to be former Los Angeles Rams Hall of Famer Jack Youngblood.

Lee (pictured) quarterbacked the LSU Tigers to a 9-0 record to open the 2011 season. Late in the year, Lee was benched for Jordan Jefferson, whose dreadful performance against Alabama played a large role in LSU’s BCS title loss.

Jefferson also went undrafted and has not been signed.
