Cowboys cornerback Jenkins still available for trade

As Florio reported on Friday, the Dallas Cowboys placed cornerback Mike Jenkins on the trade block immediately after trading up to draft Morris Claiborne with the sixth overall pick.

The Cowboys found no takers during the draft, but ESPN Dallas’ Calvin Watkins reports that Jenkins remains available.

Per Watkins, however, “there appear to be no takers.” Jenkins underwent a significant shoulder surgery in January after separating his right shoulder on multiple occasions during the 2011 season. Instead of rehabbing at the Cowboys’ Valley Ranch headquarters, Jenkins has reportedly raised eyebrows in Dallas by working out on his own in Florida.

At this point, the best Dallas could hope for as compensation would probably be a late-round pick in the 2013 draft. The Cowboys could decide Jenkins is worth more as experienced, skilled veteran depth and simply opt to keep him.
