Steelers announce a dozen rookie free agents, including Marquis Maze

The Steelers are the latest team to disclose the acquisition of rookie free agents who have signed with the team after the conclusion of the draft.

The 12 new Steelers are: P Drew Butler (Georgia); CB Terry Carter (Louisian Tech); WR Connor Dixon (Duquesne); S Robert Golden (Arizona); DE Ikponmwosa Igbinosun (Southern Connecticut State); C/G Ryan Lee (Furman); LB Brandon Lindsey (Pitt); WR Marquis Maze (Alabama); K Grant Ressel (Missouri);  LB Adrian Robinson (Temple); OT Desmond Stapleton (Rutgers); and DE Jake Stoller (Yale).

Maze is the most intriguing of the bunch.  A receiver and return specialist who was a key member of the Alabama offense and special teams, Maze could provide a significant spark for the Steelers — if he first can make the team.

  1. So the Alabama/Steelers fan’s comments on Maze were taken down? Well, that makes sense. Why let someone who watched his entire college career comment on his what he brings to the Steelers. After all, it’s only a site where people comment about players and teams. 🙄

  2. Maze should make this team.

They can use him to replace that washed up has-been…
you know, old Whines Hard himself.

  3. @seanmmartin

the same can be said of stephen hill from georgia tech.

that statistic deoesn’t mean anything at all. you posted a comment that, literally, said nothing

I guess you don’t know how boring and childish your posts are since you keep on doing it.

Perhaps you were just as bad for your own team that they embarassed you out of the picture!!

Please try making an intelligent comment sometime which will shock many.

    “Boring”? “Childish”?

My question is if my posts are childish and
boring then why (as you obviously see yourself being)
is a “mature” and “interesting” person such
as yourself bothering to read them?

Nobody is forcing you to read what I write. You & I
both know you (and the rest of the Stooler homers)
won’t like anything I write so just ignore it.
After all, that’s the “grownup” thing to do, right?

    ………………………………………………………………………

This guy might listen to your point about intelligence more seriously if you could spell better… or at least be wise enough to use spell check.

While you are at it, why not correct all the Squealer fans here who insist on posting “GO STEELERS” in every post? How can anyone take what they write serious when they post those things that make them sound like they are 9 years old?

  8. Watch out for Adrian Robinson. Guy plays hard, and I think he has a decent shot to at least crack the practice squad. Make Harrisburg proud!

  9. Texans fan here! Just wanted to say: GREAT draft, Steelers! I thought for a millisecond there that DeCastro was going to fall to us at #26, but then the Steelers brass showed up at #24 and reached down my throat and pulled out my heart! Thanks a bunch, Steelers! Seriously, great job and good luck in the upcoming season!

  10. Drew Butler won the Ray Guy Award after averaging 48 yards a punt in 2009, and his career average of 45.4 yards ranks first all-time at Georgia and fifth in NCAA history.

So the Steelers got a comparable punter as a free agent to what Jacksonville got in the 3rd round.

And you wonder why Jacksonville struggles to be a consistant winner…

  11. believe connor dixons a QB… just saying cause I spent the last four years on campus with him.

  12. UM Chris Rainey anyone??? Hes the special teams guy they drafted and he can catch the ball out of backfield and could see him in the slot eventually once he gains weight. They will keep him over Maze given the investment if its an even match through camp.
