The Saints were missing some draft picks this year, thanks to the trade that brought the Mark Ingram and the bounty punishment.

They compensated in part by signing a whopping 18 undrafted free agents.

They are: LB Kadarron Anderson (Furman), LB Stephen Johnson (Temple); LB Aaron Tevis (Boise State); WR Malcolm Beyah (Middle Tennessee State); WR Chris Givens (Miami of Ohio); WR Kevin Hardy (Citadel);  DE Braylon Broughton (TCU), DE/DT Tyrunn Walker (Tulsa), TE Jake Byrne (Wisconsin), RB Travaris Cadet (Appalachian State), DB A.J. Davis (Jacksonville State); C Brian Folkerts (Washburn); S Jose Gumbs (Monmouth); S Jerico Nelson (Arkansas); S Johnny Thomas (Oklahoma State); T Dan Hoch (Missouri); T Aderious Simmons (Arizona State); and KR Laron Scott (Georgia Southern).

The Saints, who drafted players from Regina and Samford, continued with the small-school vibe by signing guys from Furman, Middle Tennessee State, Miami of Ohio, Jacksonville State, Washburn, Monmouth, and Georgia Southern.

The bolded links for some players lead to the profiles of completely different players. For instance, clicking on Chris Givens’ name goes to the Rams receiver drafted out of Wake Forest.

Sorry saints franchise…. Back to the bottom…..

Small school players tend to work out…see the roster! This year, Ingram was essentially the “1st round pick” and DE Greg Romeous the “2nd round pick” was a pick last year out rehabbing an ACL….so basically, they had a “whole draft”….next!

The Saints have drafted 4 Pro-Bowl players between rounds 4 – 7 in the last 4 years, more than any other team in the NFL.
I don’t question any of their picks with a proven track record like that. You can also throw in undrafted players such as Pierre Thomas, Chris Ivory and Lance Moore.

never mind. AJ Davis looks like a steal. solid special teams, and competition for robinsons/patrick

Godcanfirealdavis- wishful thinking fool. Jose Gumbs can play. Live near Monmouth and saw the kid play a couple times. Definitely jumped out. Not the greatest competition buy its the same school Miles Austin is from.

And according to Scout.com Tavaris Cadet got a $30,000 bonus, which was the largest known in this year’s NFL UFA class. Interesting to say the least considering how stacked the Saints are at RB.

They signed 18 of them, and yet somehow you still missed the opportunity to make the title “Saints Sign Bounty of Undrafted Free Agents”?

Come on guys, this one was gift wrapped for you.

Laron Scott will make this team as a KR. They dont want Sproles to return kicks anymore and this kid can flat out FLY!!.. Broughton has a solid chance to make the team as does Tyrunn Walker.. The 3 safetys also have a damn good shot at making this team.. Gomes and Thomas have the best shot out of the 3. Thomas was a ballhawk before he screwed around and got suspended all of last year.. Fulcher and Simmons i bet make the Practice Squad at least..

Funny thing is, they might find more starters out of this group than in any other. If you were a UDFA what would be the ideal team to go try out for? The team that is going to get players suspended and that had very few picks..

fyi, not a saints fan here.

Ningenito78- cheating never pays off… It’s gonna take a few years to recover from your laughable offseason… And when u do, Bree’s still wont win playoff games on the road ,outdoors not in a stupid dome…

Godcanfirealdavis- it’s a media driven laughable offseason. To think this is going to affect that locker room negatively is to have never been in a locker room. You are absolutely right about the Saints being inefficient outdoors is the playoffs. The system they play is a timing passing offense which is negatively effected by the elements. But they also win double digit games every year. The ones that have to go through the Superdome (or any dome for that matter) will be won by the Saints. Can’t win every year, but unless you’re a Giants fan, smart money is on the Saints year in and year out.

    @godcanfirealdavis
Oh big 49er fan feeling like a big man because his team had a winning season hey?
Question: how many playoff games did your 9ers win on the road?
Oh so you think that the Saints could’ve beaten the 9ers in the dome but not on your field?
How is what your saying not applying to your team?

Let’s see how well you handle that bullseye on your back this season. then come back and talk like you’ve been there.

(I just assumed you’re a 9er fan because if you’re really a raider fan I wouldn’t be able to make fun of you, I don’t laugh at the under privileged, less-fortunate. If you need some money for some food or the bus just let me know buddy, I’ll see what I can do)

I hope your right about the Saftey position! I wish they would move Roman Harper to SAM where he belongs, or dump his ass all together! He’s horrible in coverage. Responsible for the last two years play-off loses. Not to mention, the BS he did to Steve Smith in the end zone…that was embarrassing. I figure him to get the second toughest penalty among the DEF players for BG.

Ningenito78- I agree with that. I’m just bitter cause I’m a bucs fan and hoping we can turn it around this year. The south is turning into a competitive division. It will be fun to watch this year.

Ilovefoolsball- not a niner fan… Just can’t help but make fun of raiders… Then big al died and I never changed my tag…. Bucs fan… So yes that’s why Im kicking saints while they are down… Will be fun to see how saints perform without key members of coaching staff , that’s all I’m sayin.. I hate brees but respect what he has done…
