Taking a closer look at the Jets’ draft

There’s always something interesting to discuss when it comes to the Jets, and the Jets gave us plenty more interesting things to discuss via the 2012 draft.

So our good friend Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News joined PFT Live on Monday to discuss the Jets.

Topics discussed include the decision to draft Quinton Coples, the decision to trade up for Stephen Hill, and the curious reality that every time Mark Sanchez’s name was mentioned at Radio City Music Hall, he was booed.

  1. Its only interesting b/c its ny, media is in ny and so on… Really they had one of the least interesting deafts…

  2. Anyone claiming to know whether Coples or Hill will be a bust is a bust in real life because no one in the NFL knows whether one player will be a bust or not. There are NO sure things in the NFL, period.

  3. I would rather take a close look at the toilet bowl after a dump. Please don’t start the jet hype superbowl crap every other article.

” be very afraid pats fans”

Of what….? An 8~8 bunch of mutineers lead by “chiuaua eyes” Sanchez, Captain Holmes, and the Octodad?

I sent the truckload of ” depends” directly to Belichick’s house. After reading your post, I realized time was of the essence.

  5. Coples a bust? At least he has had some production.

Chandler Jones is a surefire bust for them cheating patsies. #spygate

  6. Booing Sanchez may be a non story, I think everyone got booed except the group from the armed forces.

  7. Barry Sanders got a standing ovation. Giants players like Hakeem Nicks and Michael Strahan were cheered. Shonn Greene got a mixed reaction.

  8. no one cares about the jets. you have to win something before the ice age for anyone to care -or- take them seriously.

just a bunch of wannabes. 4-12 in 2012

kudos for the cheering for Barry Sanders. While the cheering for the US Armed Forces was expected, I was wondering how the NY crowd would handle that.
The booing of the 10 yr old who read the Pats’ 6th round pick doesn’t say much for the crowd that was there; or perhaps it does.

  10. Yes, because we always discuss the draft of a team that finishes 8-8 and never wins anything.

  11. The Jets are the new Raiders: all stunning athletes who are questionable football players. At least they’ll be poorly coached.

  12. rangenius & jonkybon,

being owned by the Patriots for more than a decade is showing up in your posts. Glad to hear a keyboard warrior like rangenious knows more than the people getting paid about the draft.

Too early to predict busts but many analysts predict Chandler Jones will be a very dominant defensive player in the league in three years as opposed to Coples who has a boom or bust attached to his name.

Stephen Hill was a good pick for the jets since he is a good blocker coming out of the GT system who doesn’t need to worry about catching the ball(since no oone can get it to him) but need to block for the punt block protector and future QB who averages 10 passes per game.

Jets will have a #1 defense this year and the Patriots will rank # 21. Tom Cry Baby will be eating turf and calling for flags as usual.
