Hightower prefers to stay inside, but will play wherever Pats want

The quartet of Alabama players selected in the first round of the 2012 draft included linebacker Dont’a Hightower, for whom the Patriots traded up six spots.

Hightower joined PFT Live on Tuesday to talk about the next phase of his career.  He’ll be joining a New England defense that doesn’t need much of a kick in the pants to get the Pats over the top.

Coach Bill Belichick has said that Hightower will play various positions, something Hightower welcomes — even though he prefer playing on the inside.

Hightower also talked about a very different set of experiences from the first night of the draft in 2011, when he found himself caught in a tornado in Tuscaloosa, the things he has learned from Nick Saban, why Alabama is cranking out so many great players, and whether Marquis Maze should have been drafted along with his eight Crimson Tide teammates.

I have a feeling that Hightower will be a game changer for the Patriots. The defense got a whole lot better from the draft and the defense was playing well towards the end of the season and throughout the playoffs last year. Very excited at the prospect of New England having a defense that can take some pressure off of Brady. Brady was the reason they won all those games last year. Very excited for this season.. Go Pats!!!!!!

Remember the 2007 season when the Patriots had an awesome defense? Brady is going to beat his TD record and surpass Brees’ yards record this season.

The Pats will choke once again, just like the Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics this year.

Bozo – you LOVE Boston. I love that you spend so much time during your day worrying about Boston and it’s sports fans. Love, love, love IT!

I too, feel good about this kid. That D is going to turn the corner this year. I hope Dowling can make it through a season.

Also, I just looked at the standings, and last I checked the Yankees were just 2 games ahead of the pathetic Sox, the Bruins are still the reigning Stanley Cup Champions, and the Celtics (The Truth!) just showed their usual grit and clutch in a big game, beating Atlanta on the road missing half their team.

Not bad. Who cares how The Frontrunner Troll’s teams are doing, exsquidao? The answer is, “Worse than the Boston teams, again.”
