You just completely pulled it out of your butt. Goodell only asked BB for the tapes dating back to 2006 because that’s the only time it was illegal. Before that it wasn’t, as Jimmy Johnson and many others have stated. BB may well have known it was illegal starting in 2006. Whether he did or didn’t he got caught and was justifiably punished. 3SBs clean as a whistle. Glad you think you speak for the majority, with your delusions of granduer, but that ‘s not the case. Then his lawyer arranged a meeting with Goodell to show what he did have to save face. Goodell wanted to see if there was anything new and if Belichick had told him the truth. Goodell said there was nothing new on the tapes. BB had told Goodell he had been taping since 2000. BB never used the word ‘illegally’ because it wasn’t illegal. BB just told the complete truth.

Part 1: Multi-billionaire teams are hardly “the public”. They had access to videotape, moron.

Part 2: Film existed to show that Belichick filmed since 2000…only after those tapes were turned over by Walsh did Belichick admit that he was taping prior to 2006. And yes, the taping was illegal at that time. The memo was a reminder of the rule that already existed, idiot. And Belichick (the supposed genius) knew he was breaking the rule, otherwise he would have asked for clarification BEFORE he started taping on the sidelines. Keep making excuses for your cheating coach, while the vast majority of NFL fans know the truth about him…he is a confirmed cheater. Harbaugh should be man enough to stand by his original comments. Mostly because they were accurate.

Any team can play well when they know what plays to expect which is exactly the advantage they enjoyed by taping their opponents walkthroughs.

The Patriots players won the games true enough. But the titles will always carry the stigma of having been influenced by illicit means.

Ray Dolby, Charles Ginsburg and Charles Anderson invented the video camera that was the first machine to record both image and sound…the technology was first demonstrated on April 14, 1956…long before the rule was promulgated in the NFL Constitution and Bylaws in February 1970.

Goodell also got eight tapes from the 2001-2002 time period (a time period where taping from anywhere on the field – including the sidelines -was illegal, given that the rule had existed since 1970) and Belichick admitted to Goodell that he had been illegally taping signals since he joined the Pats in 2000.
