Rams submit their plan for dome renovation

Edward Jones Dome

Though the Rams may eventually return to Los Angeles, a move can’t happen until the team and the powers-that-be in St. Louis complete a dance that includes offers and counteroffers and, possibly, arbitration.

The process began earlier this year, with the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission making an initial proposal regarding improvements to the Edward Jones Dome. Not long thereafter, the Rams generally said that the proposal isn’t good enough. The Rams have now responded with a proposal of their own, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The Rams have declined to release the proposal publicly, but the involvement of a public commission in the process undoubtedly means that the Convention and Visitors Commission will be required to release the documents upon request.

If the parties can’t work out a plan for improving the existing structure by June 15, the dispute would head to arbitration (presumably non-binding). Without an eventual agreement, the Rams will be on a year-to-year lease after the 2014 season.

The Rams are regarded as candidates to return to Los Angeles, and possibly to move to London. The team plans to play one home game at Wembley Stadium in of the next three seasons.
