First look at Eli’s turn on SNL

Deion Sanders, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning AP

On Saturday night, Giants quarterback Eli Manning will follow in his brother’s footsteps once again, hosting Saturday Night Live.

A series of promos featuring Eli have been posted at the NBC website.

While we aren’t contractually obligated to give you the link, there was winking when the boss reminded us of that, and I don’t think he’d been struck in the eye with grapefruit pulp at breakfast.

We’re also not contractually obligated to mention that the show airs Saturday night at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT.  And we’re not contractually obligated to encourage you to watch it.  Or to record it.  Or both.

I love Eli but he should leave the acting to his brother.

Wow. I mean … wow. This does not bode well.

All across America, pieces of wood are cringing at the bad acting on display there. Hope the cast members are prepared to carry Eli through this one.

If Peyton can do it..then I’m sure Eli will do fine :) I really didn’t think Peyton could be that funny but that first skit with those kids was enough for me…lol Classic!!!!

Will his receivers be on the show to bail him out too?

I don’t know… Peyton was so funny and Eli is so awkward I don’t have a good feeling that this will go well, but I’ll check it out.

A good awkward warm-up was watching Eric Mangini squirm, talking to Tedy Bruschi about how spygate didn’t taint “our” championships while trying to distance himself from the whole thing, when he was the one who brought it all on.
