Eh…I’m sure the folks who are whining about Drew Brees now were whining about Peyton Manning then.

If they were around thirty years ago they were whining about Archie Manning’s salary as well.

Might be cheaper to buy a stadium than pay Brees what he’s looking for.

He wants what Manning got taking into consideration the $26 mil the colts payed 18 while not playing a snap. Not going to happen. Shouldn’t happen. He deserves a big contract, but not the highest ever. Class act Manning matched Brady’s deal when more was offered. Show some class Brees!

1. Brees got screwed by the franchise tag once in his career. That’s how he ended up in NO.

2. Bees is just 32 years old so he has a lot of football left. A long term deal makes sense.

3. “It makes no financial sense to sign Brees.” This statement doesn’t take into account the fact the Brees IS the Saints. Without him they are nothing. Guaranteed you lose more money fielding a 4-12 team.

4. Drew is a class at in the NO community. His worth extends off the football field.

5. Drew has all the leverage. Saints have no coach, no GM, no defensive captain, and no offense without Brees.

1. They want him happy, not grumbling.

2. If they can cut a deal with Brees, that leaves the franchise tag available for someone else.

The first may not be a financial consideration, but the second may well be.

Are there any reports on the number Brees is looking for? Maybe he just wants the stability of a longer term deal with a decent signing bonus.

there are not specifics on numbers just chatter that they know his value and a contract will get done. everyone has a deadline on this story….mine is the beginings of OTAs which is may 22. so im quite sure pft will keep the protractors out and work every angle they can until he signs.

He’s been nothing but a model player and citizen to the community, and the organization should be thankful for having him. (Especially now after all this crap that they are involved in.)

That would be the teams bad if they don’t keep him.

Reports are he wants $23 Million a year. And this is why we have a standoff between his agent and Loomis. Once it gets closer to the July 15th deadline a deal will get done.

The article makes it sound like Brees is turning down a three year deal worth $21.43M per, and he isn’t being offered that.

Brees is turning down a one year deal that he has every right to say NO to.

Then go right ahead and take it.

Let the Saints know you’ll play QB this year for what they’re offering Brees.

I’ll give you a simple one: he’s worth more than that.

I mean, otherwise the Saints wouldn’t have franchised him, right? Pretty easy to understand.

The only spoiled brats are internet whiners who want to boss Drew Brees around.

It’s his choice as to whether or not he wants to accept the franchise tag. So far he was opted not to.

So wipe away those tears. It really doesn’t affect you very much.
