He will start when Philbin says he is ready to start. If he does start week one, I hope that he beats out Moore and Garrard. I wouldn’t like to see him start ONLY because Matt and David couldn’t do the job.

Texas A&M finished 6-6, not Ryan Tannehill. If all they needed to win or lose was for Tannehill to play by himself, then I’d say he went 6-6. The coach that was fired, won three staight division titles, so he’s no slouch either

I think that IS the point…..Sanchez is a mediocre QB at best..FAR from "elite" and in NO WAY should the Jets have moved up to get him in the draft where they did. I wouldn't want Sanchez as my QB either.

Tannehill played 1.5 seasons at QB in college. Finished 6-6 last season in his only full season as a starter. His coach was fired. He has the smallest hands of any QB at the combine. This is NOT a recipe for success.

Saying a player was a “value” pick or an “over-reach” is absurd because teams are doing the picking, not Kiper, Mayock, PFT, or McShay. Fans are blasting or heaping praise on GMs based solely on mock drafts decided on by analysts/bloggers.

Thats my assessment, not Kiper’s. Kiper gave them a “C” Egnew is an athletic TE, J Martin was a 1st rnd pick in almost every book, and Lamar Miller had a 1/2 round grade on him. Kiper you say? Sounds like Kiper, is all you know to assume thats where I got my opinion, because thats where you heard yours.

You guys are so quick to jump on Ireland, but honestly… how long has he actually had the reigns? Isn’t this his 2nd year without the tuna pushing the buttons?

Look, the best move this team made since getting rid of Shula (not that that was a good move), was signing Philbin, who was involved with that (idiot owner aside)? I was disapointed that they didn’t sign Flynn, but top to bottom I like the way the draft looks. Give it a chance and remember, were still better than the Jet’s, so let it play out!

He drafted a Franchise quarterback, a 1sr rnd talented tackle in the 2nd, a pass rushing specialist in the third and a athletic play-making TE, a 1st/2nd round RB in the 4th, the fastest in the draft who has the size to be an every-down back, a versatile DE/LB in the 5th who is athletic, non stop motor who is good in pass coverage, a Z receiver with great size and hands in the 6th, and 7th rounds, and an athletic NT from Texas who had a 4th round grade. Plus passing on Flynn, Cutting the aging Bell, and moving J Wilson to his natural position to replace him(7th rnd pick) resigned Solia and a much cheaper price, adding Garrard who is 2 years removed from pro-bowl play as a veteran presence on the cheap, picked up M Moore for peanuts the year prior who finished 12th in overall QB ratings, signed Bush who all laughed at , then proceeded to rush for a 1000 yards, picked up Cameron Wake, one of the premier pass rushers in the league for nothing…I could go on, but ya Id say he killed it. All you calling for his head are clueless. Go play the franchise mode on Madden, that makes more since to you then the real deal.

Does he not realize the expectations he has put on himself by making comments like these? The whole franchise QB debacle in the offseason, etc. It’s OK to talk to the media and give insight, but you need to temper your feelings a little bit.

Ireland has set himself up BIG TIME at this point. If this draft class does not produce by end of this season, by all intent and purposes he has just said he deserves to be fired.
