The Eagles, still recovering from the loss of left tackle Jason Peters for the season, has added another tackle by making a waivers claim for a guy who was released by a team that has had an awful offensive line in recent years.

Thomas Welch, who finished the 2011 season with the Rams, is now an Eagle, the team announced on Friday.

Welch spent five games with the Rams and three with the Patriots last season.

He entered the league via the seventh round of the 2010 draft, a selection of the Pats.  Cut in New England, he spent most of that year on the Vikings’ practice squad.

The Eagles signed tackle Demetress Bell after Peters suffered a torn Achilles tendon.

  1. Just adding depth, doing what every other team in the league is doing. It’s been a year, can’t you all come up with something new? Dream team, really?

  2. Yes we are the dream team for signing a training camp body that no one has ever heard of. Do haters even think before they post on here?

Anyone who can hang five years in the NFL has something to show. Good signing.

    5 years? Really, 5 years?

You and the other 9 idiots that gave this a thumbs up should never be allowed to vote or reproduce.

    He was drafted in 2010.

  4. It sure sounds like a lot of people that laughed at the Eagles last season are now fearful of that Lombardi for the next several years.

The Eagles were a couple of mishaps from a 12-4 season last year. This year they may threaten the Dolphins 17-0 record.

    Just sayin……

  5. “We” kemo sabe? What are you a player or a coach?

  6. when you say “dream team” in reference to this year’s eagles team, what the rest of the world hears is “i am either so football ignorant that i’m still quoting a foolish comment made by a guy who isn’t even on the team, or so desperate to downplay the talent they’ve put together that i’m willing to quote a foolish comment from a guy that isn’t even on the team even though it makes me sound ignorant.” either way, you come off as less than impressive.
and don’t write any OL off with Howard Mudd coaching them.

  7. b3nzoz…sounds like the pot calling the kettle black to me. Get a life Dude, we are just having fun. We can’t all be football experts like you. By the way are you the pot or the kettle.

  8. Mudd turned a sixth round pick last year into a 16 game starting center on one of the best lines in the league.
If he sees something in the guy then he is a worthwhile pickup.
