Eagles add another tackle, via waivers

i

The Eagles, still recovering from the loss of left tackle Jason Peters for the season, has added another tackle by making a waivers claim for a guy who was released by a team that has had an awful offensive line in recent years.

Thomas Welch, who finished the 2011 season with the Rams, is now an Eagle, the team announced on Friday.

Welch spent five games with the Rams and three with the Patriots last season.

He entered the league via the seventh round of the 2010 draft, a selection of the Pats. Cut in New England, he spent most of that year on the Vikings’ practice squad.

The Eagles signed tackle Demetress Bell after Peters suffered a torn Achilles tendon.
