Deuce Lutui gets his weight way down

Weight problems have plagued Deuce Lutui for much of his NFL career. He once reported to Cardinals camp weighing 396 pounds, and when he signed a free agent deal with the Bengals last year, the contract was voided when he failed the team physical because the medical staff said he was too fat to play.

But that’s in Lutui’s past.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, who coached Lutui in college at USC, says he’s thrilled to have signed Lutui to a contract this offseason, and even more thrilled that Lutui showed up at the team facility looking svelte and fit.

Deuce Lutui, he is a joy to have out here,” Carroll said. “He has got such a great spirit. He always did. We looked at opportunities to get him on this club just because of that. He looks good. His weight is down — I mean, way down from where he can be. He’s a vegan, too, now, so he has really made a big turn, if you can imagine.”

The Seahawks aren’t saying exactly how much Lutui weighs — Carroll answered that question with a joke, saying Lutui weighs 208 pounds — but if he’s even down to the 365 pounds that he was listed at when he played for Carroll at USC, that would represent progress. Any weight loss beyond that is gravy. Low-calorie vegan gravy.

    Wow, that’s Rex Ryan big.

With a man that big it is more about his heart health than his ability to play football. Let’s hope he takes care of himself and lives a full life.

Deuce Lutui will be a STUD on the O-Line this year for the Hawks. He should have no problem opening holes for “The Beast” and Turbin.

Way to go, Deuce. Stick with it.

“looking svelte and fit” only in the NFL can a 365lb man be referred to as looking svelte and fit.

Mike Williams lost a lot of weight and made an impact at WR two seasons ago. Maybe Deuce will make it two former Carroll-coached Trojans to get a bit of redemption in Seattle.

Too bad he couldn’t do that in the AZ. He would be a starter right now. He was a beast in the run game and held his own in the pass game. Being a Cardinals fan I cant help but be a little upset he went to the seahawks, but its cool we will just whip his *** when we meet up during the season. Go Cardinals

With that diet do not count on him making any type of impact. I’m sure hes got access to some very high quality proteins due to the money he makes, but animal protein is irreplaceable in diet and has absolutely no correlation to any type of disease, or weight problems for that matter. i lost weight switching from a vegan to a 100% animal fat diet consisting of 70% fat by calorie basis. In reality it’s the high carb vegan diets that bring on disease within the body and it doesnt take long to do so.

Set him up for a wrestling match with Bryan Mckinnie.

With the pass rush that the Hawks will have this season Kolb is going to get his A$$ handed to him………….

Deuce is a synonym for turd and thats exactly what he has been. Good riddance to an underachieving, undisciplined worthless slob with no work ethic. What a waste of talent due to laziness. I would kill to have been in his position and would have worked hard to live up to my full potential. To top it off he goes to a division rival. At least now we know who the weak link is on Seattle’s O-Line. Not that he’ll be starting.

    400 lb vegan?

    How does that work?

  14. hoytdadd64 says: May 5, 2012 11:38 PM

@trevor123698 Tony Gonzalez is on a vegan diet (and has been since 2007) and he is still an impact player.

well sure, the sky’s the limit if you want to think of all possible reasons you might want to sue someone. why not add pat bowlen because he should have had a curfew for his players. If theres no chance to get past a motion to dismiss, its not getting to a jury so whats the point

You got it. Tune in to any presentation by the Westin Price Foundation (youtube) to get an idea of what is going on in the food game. We have been led astray at nearly every turn in the last 60 years. Fat and cholesterol is CRITICAL to every cell in your body. Carbs are utterly worthless and actually form the foundation for YOUR body to start making fat. Dietary fats do not end up as fat in your body.

Veggies are good (especially greens), but meat is where the real nutients can be found- especially organ meats. Sorry vegans, but you’ve been duped. Get your study on.

This Seahawks O-line is going to be real special this year. They have 9 guys that are starter grade and Tom Cable coaching them. This team can play anybody. There are no holes to fill. At all.
