George Martin resigns as head of NFL Alumni

Early this year, when questions were raised about the ability of former Giants defensive end George Martin to lead the NFL Alumni Association, the organization’s board stood behind Martin as the right man for the job. But now Martin is out of the job.

NFL Alumni has announced that Martin has resigned as executive director of the Association and as President and CEO of the NFL Alumni Foundation. No reason was given for Martin’s resignation from the job that was reportedly paying him a base salary of $750,000 a year.

Former Giants and Eagles quarterback Joe Pisarcik has been appointed the interim leader of both the Alumni Association and the Foundation.

“We thank George for his years of service and look forward to being able to continue to call upon him in this transition period,” Pisarcik said in a statement. “Looking forward, we are particularly focused on addressing the growing number of pressing retired player issues.”
