Veteran cornerback Drew Coleman was released by the Jaguars this week, but he probably won’t stay out of work for long.
Coleman’s agent told the New York Post that the Jets, who drafted Coleman in 2006, are one of three teams that have already expressed interest in Coleman.
As Alper noted shortly after Coleman was cut, Coleman was a disappointment in the Jaguars’ defense but a pretty good slot corner for the Jets, both in coverage and coming on blitzes -- he had four sacks in 2010, his final season with the Jets. Coleman was also a good special teams player, and it would make a lot of sense for the Jets to bring him back.
Coleman played for the Jets from 2006 to 2010, playing in 67 games and starting nine.
