You bag on the players that go broke saying they should’ve at least took advantage of the college education they were offered. Then, when a well established player with 2 SB rings graduates during the peak of his career somehow thats bad? Maybe he wanted to enrich his life, accomplish a goal, make his parents proud.

Thats crap..im graduating this summer at 24, and have to re-take a class that a passed when i was 18..because of some 5 year rule they issued..i guess it dosent count for an athlete..good for him though..

only certain courses have 5 year rules such as “Anatomy and Physiology”. 95 to 100 percent of the courses you’ve had in the past will still carry over later in life. I doubt he took any special shortcuts. It seems like he wanted the feeling of really earning a degree.

Look, the bottom line is that if that QB of yours wasn’t an embarrassment & a PR nightmare for the team then nobody would have anything to bust on him for. If you don’t think that he’s putting together a HOF resume then I doubt I’ll be able to convince you otherwise. I would not put Ben in the same category as any of the three you mentioned, because they are all traditional pocket passers. Ben plays the game a little different, but he does what he does well. And you’re right, he played bad against Seattle and didn’t do too much better against Arizona, but we wouldn’t be in either super bowl without him. I didn’t say he was a HOF today, I said he’s on the right track, and if you don’t admit that then you’re just as much a hater as I am a homer (and I am).

I got outta hand yesterday, I’m sure you ladies are both positive, thoughtful contributers. I’ve been around since the very beginning, wayyy before the NBC days, but these days everything Florio writes annoys me so I get a little frisky.

Trolling can also be making nasty remarks about people that are true. IE Rex is fat, so people make juvenile comments about his weight on every Jets story. Probably no one hates the NYJ more than us Pats fans but that is so lame IMO.

What I said about the Pats is true, just like it’s true that Ray Lewis didn’t murder anyone, and Ben didn’t rape anyone. I can sling smack with the best of them, but would rather elevate mine a little beyond junior high. If you don’t like that–or respect it–too bad.

I can’t speak for all us “haters” but for me personally I couldn’t care less if he has lots of money, a college degree, or the fact that he happened to be on a team that had a good enough defense & running game (that did most of the work) getting him those 2 rings.

The problem I have with the guy is that he has an arrogant attitude, he’s a BIG time diva, he saw no problem with trying to have sex with a woman in a bathroom, that he has been known to run up big tabs at clubs & then walk out without paying, & that he foolishly risks his team’s chances at success by riding a motorcycle without a license or a helmet. And these are just the things we know about. Lord only knows what other questionable thoughts or actions he has had that have been successfully covered up.

If this guy had been on the Ravens & done all this stuff, it wouldn’t matter to Steeler fans if he had the degree, the money or the rings. Steeler fans would be trashing this guy for all his mistakes. But because he is the Pittsburgh QB and not the Ravens QB, then others here are said to have a helluva nerve criticizing him when he messes up.

That’s lame… even for a homer. Try not making excuses for him…

Anyone that finished their degree deserves a pat on the back. I don’t care if you make millions or not. Dave Thomas got his High School diploma when he was in his 60′s. I’m pretty sure that guy was worth way more than anyone in the NFL.

Would you mention Ben as being in the same tier as Brady, Manning, or Brees? Probably not unless you are an extreme Steeler homer. THOSE are HOF players, Ben is a bit further down on that list, in fact I’d argue that there are at least 7 QBs better than Ben in the league right now.

And don’t give me that “he was 2 rings BS” because he played aweful against Seattle, and he has the benefit of being a member of a great team. Like I said it’s the Hall of Fame, not of very good and unless you are a top 3 QB during your era you probably won’t get in.

I’m a diehard Steelers fan and hate the Pats, but it was common practice for teams to videotape signals. Bill Cowher has said the same thing. Where Belichick went wrong was in continuing to do it after a memo went out telling coaches to stop. He deserved to get his hand slapped by the league for ignoring the new rule, but that team earned its championships. And Tom Brady is one of the best quarterbacks in league history.

I went through those 26 years between Steeler championships, so I know how important Ben is to this team. But when it comes to the Super Bowl games themselves, Tom Brady was a heckuva lot more responsible for the Pats’ SB victories than Ben was for ours. He’s a first-ballot Hall of Famer, and there won’t be any asterisks beside his name. That’s exactly what CKL was talking about in her post. When our fans make those kinds of idiotic comments about the Pats, they’re no better than the morons posting “rape, rape, rape” about Ben.

Ben has won two rings and been to three super bowls and he’s not done. That is already a better career than theisman, and he happens to be on a team that is a contender every year.

We shall see if they still do so down the road after he quits playing football, becomes a teacher, and then starts making the moves on said Steelers fans’ co-ed daughters inside the bathroom stalls.

What makes you so sure Ben will get into the HOF? Joe Theismann won a SB, was named to multiple pro bowl teams, was twice an All Pro (Ben has yet to be named an All Pro) and was a League MVP (Ben’s never even been in MVP discussion) and has never been considered a HOF player despite a better career than Ben.

Ben still has a lot of work to do if he want to be named into the HOF. After all it’s called the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Pretty Good.

Good for any athlete that goes back and finishes…end of story.
