Ed Reed says the Achilles injury suffered by teammate Terrell Suggs will have far-reaching ramifications in Baltimore, including the way opposing quarterbacks think about facing the Ravens.
“He’s definitely going to be missed,” Reed said on 105.7 The Fan, via SportsRadioInterviews.com. “We know what Terrell Suggs brings to the table, the fear that he puts in quarterbacks’ heads. So he’s definitely going to be missed. . . . Knowing that Terrell was coming off the edge at times . . . you knew that ball is going to come out faster.”
Still, Reed believes the Ravens have the depth -- and the mindset -- to replace Suggs, with players who will be ready to fill the void created by Suggs.
“It definitely takes a team to win, so no one guy is more important than the team,” Reed said. “Guys know they have to step up and it’s going to take two people to replace a Terrell Suggs.”
Reed specifically mentioned Paul Kruger, who had a career-high 5.5 sacks last season, as a player who will step up in Suggs’ absence. Kruger will have big shoes to fill in putting fear into opposing quarterbacks the way Suggs does.
