They have the right to know why, and I believe they know exactly why. Now it seems that those who are involved are trying to spin this in the media to try to save face. The league doesn’t have to provide any evidence to the media or anyone else other than those who were involved. It’s just like any other employer giving discipline for violating policies… the employee being disciplined can say whatever they want; the employer has to be more discreet to protect their privacy.

If Godell is misrepresenting or exaggerating his so called evidence then we deserve to know because we have a personal stake in the success of our team. As for anyone questioning the coaches cooperation, of course they’re not going to rock the boat, they don’t want to lose their jobs for good. These guys have great jobs with great pay, I wouldn’t want to lose that either.

Unless you can prove there was intent by the players, specific actions and results of these actions, then you have nothing but talk.

How can you assume the players just didn’t ignore it. The evidence of not 1 single cartoff or major injury to opponents in 3 yrs would suggest that interpretation.

Wihtout real evidence you can’t go with this innuendo.

This case is full of holes, lies, exaggerations, mispresentations, and is crumbling all over the place.

Sounds like Ed Werder was right in saying the Saints had this scheme in place for 2 games and that too it was a fake by GW telling Vilma to bring money to the meeting and then gave it back to him.

No injuries, no seeming intent to injure, just a bunch of talk. And with Roger seeing this as a way to mitigate concussion lawsuits and ask for a 18 game schedule while pretending to care about safety.

The Saints have to be made whole again by return of picks, fines, and revoking of suspensions. This is a pure hit job railroading.

Can’t wait till this ends in Goodellgate, that guy is gone.

The Saints Defensive Players did NOTHING in that game that even remotely looks like a “bounty”.

They barely even hit or tackled anybody for crying out loud.

They had ZERO penalties.

If there had been a bounty, and if it was acted upon, I guarantee you somebody would have gotten hurt. The average NFL player outweighs me by 100 pounds and I can take the ACL out on any one of them by just running at them full bore from the side and diving at their knees.

This whole “bounty” thing is a figment of Roger Goodell’s imagination. This is all about over 1,000 concussion lawsuits brought by former players and Roger is worried about the long term financial viability of the league.

This is the same thing as a company suspending their employee. A company is not required to divulge all information to said employee unless it goes to a court. The NFL has no obligation to reveal anything to anyone let alone the media and the public. These players are not facing criminal charges so they do not have any rights.”

Actually, the legally-binding CBA does give the players rights to certain information — this is not the same as a company suspending its non-union employees. But that is really not the issue here. The NFL is hyper-sensitive about its image and knows that its success depends on the public’s confidence in the integrity of the game, which is why they imposed such harsh punishments. However, with all the conflicting information out there, the public has ZERO confidence in the integrity of this process. Therefore, legal obligations aside, it is in the league’s interest to disclose the “proof”, to make sure they don’t lose fans over this.

This “protecting the whistleblowers” excuse for not releasing the evidence is baloney. The entire bountygate episode is about Goodell using the Saints as cannon fodder to protect the league in the liability lawsuits.

My guess is that the 50,000 pages show something the league does not want made public – either that the league did nothing for years about the evidence of the Saints bounty program, or that they did not follow up on evidence that showed similar bounty programs existed with many other teams, or that the league indeed followed up on evidence that similar bounty programs existed with many other teams, but they covered it up so as not to show how widespread the league’s liability really was.

The current issues: concussions, bounties, illegal hits, current and former player salaries, CBA are very important things to resolve. But Goodell is not handling any of these effectively. He wants player safety, but wants 18games? My guess is that he and the owners want 18 games, but played at basketball level physical contact. My guess is that the money being made will be the same as now or less because less fans will be willing to watch/attend when the game is changed to a ‘puff’ league. I know I won’t be watching this flag football.

I’ll give you all of them. They don’t add up to the severity of the punishments.

That part would be fairly easy. Forgo all fines and suspensions and, to make up for the #2 draft pick stripped this year, a compensatory #1 next year.

That’s if any or much of this is NOT true.
