Bears sign seventh-rounder Greg McCoy

The Bears usually lead the way when it comes to signing rookie draft picks.  They were first to the party this year with receiver Alshon Jeffrey, a second-round pick.  They now have signed their second drafted rookie.

The team announced that seventh-round cornerback/kick returner Greg McCoy has been signed to a four-year contract.

McCoy started 39 games at TCU, and he also served as a kickoff returner — a skill that has become largely irrelevant in the new, safety-conscious NFL.

To the chagrin of Devin Hester.

McCoy is an absolute burner but he will have to make the team based on his special teams play. He was never very good at coverage.

Why? If kick offs go away he is then guaranteed to go down as the greatest kick returner of all time. Not like he was ever going to be Randy Moss or Jerry Rice…
