It’s signing day in San Diego.

On the heels of the news that second-round pick Kendall Reyes has signed his rookie contract, the Chargers have announced that first-round pick Melvin Ingram has also agreed to a deal. It’s the standard four-year deal with a team option for a fifth year.

The Chargers were thrilled when Ingram fell into their lap with the 18th overall pick. The South Carolina product is expected to be a major contributor at outside linebacker for the Chargers this season and the team hopes he makes a particularly large impact as a pass rusher. Ingram played all over the defensive front while in college, so the Chargers might be able to deploy him in a variety of roles if he makes a quick transition to the NFL.

Center David Molk, a seventh-round pick, also agreed to a contract with the Chargers. Molk won the Rimington Award as the best center in college football in 2011 and made many All-America teams after completing his Michigan career. He’s expected to provide depth behind Nick Hardwick this season.
