He was playing injured the last half of the season too. He’s a top safety when he’s healthy, very smart. But he has durability issues. Perhaps if he split time he could get through a season without being injured. Also he can play CB in the Nickel package. So that makes him attractive too. Despite his performance in the last 6 games and playoff game tackling against the run, he was normally a very strong run defender. And Pro Football Focus had him rated the 4th most efficient pass rusher amongst DBs. So blitzing may be his strongest attribute. He’s a leader, and well capable of calling the D if the MLB can’t, and has.

Good guy and nice locker room presence, just going downhill as a player. You could do worse. Scheme for him and he can still contribute.

I’d say a good amount of DBs would get plowed over by Foster. Come to Detroit PLEASE! We need ya for a year or two.

The Lions could use some veteran competition at safety since they didn’t draft one and haven’t signed any free agents either.
